I just got one at Walmart for $80. My daughter has her third birthday coming in a week and I saw this a month ago. She's always on my or her grandma's phone and I'm starting to homeschool anyways, so I know this will be a perfect birthday present for her.

Doing the old phone thing like you said...BAD IDEA lol I did this even with no phone service and just using wifi they can call 911 ..so do not.i repeat do not give your kids an old phone..this is a better choice and pretty cool device for.kids..lol
