VtM Bloodlines Malkavian Run Part 103: Choosing Our Destiny

The cab driver will try to make any path you choose sound bad. But I'm not going to play second fiddle to any faction leader. I do all the work, I'll be getting all the credit.

The "But you've made that mistake before" is a reference to Caine's disappointment in how his grandkids (the antediluvians, 3rd generation) turned out. He gave them a very free hand in the city of Enoch, freedom to embrace who they wanted and shape their own destinies (which eventually became the 13 clans), but were destroyed by God due to their infighting and preying on the Kine and now they do nothing but fight with each other. The whole idea is that Caine has never really liked his kids and will eventually come back to destroy them all. Like so much of the Malkavian dialog, you really need to play the game through completely a couple of times before you can fully appreciate their "insight". They make very oblique references to a lot of past and future stuff that they really shouldn't know about. Imagine if a Christian saw Jesus driving a cab. They'd rightly assume Judgment Day was imminent. "It's so very obvious where we're headed", aka destruction. Gehenna. Edit: Also, frankly, fuck White Wolf's "canon" opinion of Caine squatting in a cave until the end of days, and fuck their shitty post-VTMB dime store novel that negates most of the plot of this game. Their version is about 1000 times less creative and 1 million times lazier than what Troika tried to do here, and WW shot them down without mercy or hesitation. WW's been on the outs for a decade now. Maybe Caine will come back and punish THEM.

When you search through the audio files you can actually find all the driver's dialogue in the "caine directory" map.

There was a Gehenna novel released by White Wolf not to mention the Gehenna book/Laws of Judgment which deals with Gehenna in game. But the Driver is in fact Caine, it's hinted at a thousand times in the game

but actually if you look at the coding of the game the character with the dialogue of the cab driver is labeled as Cain so that mystery is pretty much solved.

Yes. As far as I'm aware, the developers wanted it to be Caine, but for some reason White Wolf decided to overrule them. Fair enough, but since WW's approach to canon tends to be "do what you think is cool", I'll do just that.

You all can have your own opinion, but me, I'm 100% sure that the cab driver and the person behind Jack at the ending are the exact same person. (ThE Caine.) He's a vampire, but if you use that aura discipline (forgot name)you'll see that his aura is purple, every other vampire has a white-silvery aura.

That Cab driver was pretty bad-ass... He's going over nines on my list. Jack, Beckette, Chunk, Cabby, Nines. Let's see, 3 Anarchs, one Lone Wolf (bad pun) and one Non-Vamp (who in this, I'd count as nuetral, or Lone-Wolf, It's a job)

i agree with NearVSMello,the soundfiles say he is caine...i think they made him very interesting charakter that cabbie and finally you see him behind jack in one of the endings surounded by black smoke.

@darkchiron When you either go in the front door of the hospital or walk close enough to the front of the hospital he'll grab you. But other than that you have to talk to him. He's always at the asylum though. Worrying about asian vampires.

ok Betrams Ghoul is actually as a start around the front of the bloodbanks main entrance then after a few interactions he moves into jeanettes club. I was able to get the quests done with him as a Malk too so they are available and you can do em but complete them mainly before you leave Santa Monica the first time.

Well the game never states it out clearly, just for the player. The most popular opinion is is that it's not Cain, but the Malk who thinks he is Caine. For epicness, I myself like to think he IS cain.

He can't be Caine; Caine was asleep in a cave somewhere until Beckett came and woke him up and thus initiated Gehenna. He's probably a Malkavian Methuselah (a vampire of the 4th or 5th generation) that THINKS he is Caine. ALso, Bloodlines acts as a prologue of sorts for the novel in which Beckett releases Caine. Gehenna comes only a few months after this game's ending.

In my opinion, i think he is Caine, theres a few things that point that he is Caine...but we can never be sure if hes Caine or not...he might be being controled by Caine, he might be Caine, he might be Caine, who knows...but still, i will never change my mind about this, he must, no he IS Caine god dam it :P
