Hi there! Me again. Just wanted to follow up with you. We received our VTRETU "rig" a few days ago and I finally had some time to mess around with it today. I confirm it can be upgraded to 8GB but not 16GB (it won't POST with a 16GB stick installed). I also upgraded the storage to 256GB and did a fresh install of Windows 10 (booting off a USB drive). No significant issues with any of that. Press Del to enter the BIOS. Mine also had the #8 power cord unhooked, a small dent in the case behind the knobs (hammered it out from the inside), and... get this! You know the part of your video where you mention it coming with the wrong screws? Well, I figured it out. The screws that should have been included in the bag (for installing your graphics cards) were used to install the power supply, instead. And the screws that should have gone to the power supply were stuck in the bag! I only noticed it when I flipped it over and a couple of them fell out. So they mixed up all the screws during assembly. They're not even correctly holding in the PSU. I'll be swapping those around, haha. Will be making my own video at some point. Thanks again for your help and advice! 😁

I don't know jack about mining rigs but the boss just told me to build one for his son (LOL), and I was seeing the same things as you (Octominer gotta buy minimum five cases, etc.). I saw this one on Amazon and it looked like one of the only ones that could run at 110v standard household electric. Thanks for the video!

This server case is way too expensive. There's more cheaper better options on Amazon. And you can buy it without the PSU. I recommend server grade PSU w/breakout board that runs 110v and 220v platinum that well cost you $30+ range.
@CompTechMike2 жыл бұрын
@@simpson156 six months ago when I built mine there was all of one other comparable unit on Amazon, and it had even fewer reviews. If you feel there are better, similar options available now, can you provide links?

have you reduced the PSU fan noise? try a lower RPM fan or 5000rpm noctua Nf-a4x20

Have you done anything to try and muffle the sound of the PSU fan?

@modeloman225 honestly no, I know air flow is loud. When you have a bunch of these. It's just loud lol.

Is it just me or does the power supply and fans never shut off. Unless you flip the power to the power supply off.

Yes just the board shut downs, everything has to be manually turned off

Hi again! Can you advise what is the exact model of CPU on the board? If I want to reinstall the OS, do you think it would be able to boot off something like a Windows 10 flash drive (created with the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool) to do a fresh install? I wonder if I did this (install fresh OS on larger drive) how difficult any hardware-specific drivers would be to find? Do you think the memory is upgradeable? Considering replacing the 4GB DDR3L module with either 8GB or 16GB.
@crazykkid20002 жыл бұрын
Yes 100% u can upgrade memory, and boot from other devices, or install any os you want on it. Not sure of the model number but it does come with instructions on how to get to bios and change boot priorities, incase u want to use hive os, or other bootable media
@crazykkid20002 жыл бұрын
When i get home ill see if i can see any model number on the board

@@crazykkid2000 Thanks! Probably going to be ordering one tomorrow. Will order additional memory and storage at the same time. Saw a screenshot on Amazon that looks like it supports max of 8GB, but if what I could find out about the processor is correct, it may support up to 32GB. Of course that may only be on boards with more than one memory socket.

@@crazykkid2000 I'm going to start with Windows 10, but am researching Hive OS as well. It's going to be installed headless in a server closet so we want to make sure that we can use our standard remote access tools to connect with it. Not familiar enough with alternative operating systems to know if that is supported.

@@CompTechMike thats awesome, if u want headless, i suggest hive os. Or of u do windows like i do. I recommend doing chrome desktop. Its epic. That and a hdmi dummy plug
