Waagh armies count as a second army inside every one of your armies, and can recruit the same amount of units as their army had when the Waagh started. Their units aren't usually very high tier, can be blocked by lightning strike and do increase supply lines, but their recruitment depends on what lord you have and where you are (e.g. Near volcanoes you can get lava spiders) and can lead to serious outnumbering of people. It is shown similar to your regular armies green bar, as a yellow bar next to it beside the banner, and can be selected while looking at your army. The Waagh in battle is an army ability that triggers when you fight enough enemies. It is similar for all Greenskins, but Grom's is different because it is the only one that gives healing.

That's really cool that it can give you different troops depending on the area you're in. Makes it feel like random green skins in the region decided to hop on the hype train.

Basically, WAAAAAGH is your time to make a massive push. Your target is set at the beginning, but during those turns you can attack anywhere you please, and if you position yourself well before uncorking the green tide you can wipe even fortified holds right off the map. Greenskins kind of ‘ebb and flow’: you use the down time between WAAAAAAGHs to raid, recruit, sabotage and set up for the next one, and then you just blitz everything in krumpin’ distance, rinse and repeat.

@@monsieurmanatee4716 the only malus u have is that the wagh does not profit from ur lord and heroes. so u have lev 1 movementrange and it can hurt u to have less range than all other armys (no lord u will find is lev 1) and they dont profit from tec and lords red skilltree. but hey its a free 20 stack without upkeep so...

You really don't even need an army at that point as they buff each other a lot. Have one of the strongest lore's of magic in vampires. And both are very durable with built in regen. Whete vlad can get triple regen in melee. And yeah super fun though vampire count mechanics are pretty outdated at this point. Highly recommend my bony bois

Hehe, this was before Thrones of Decay released, right? Poor Von Carsteins are absolutely screwed now. If you don't kill those Dwarves near you ASAP, you're in for a hurting. The Dwarves are terrifying the moment they get cannons now. And having Elspeth start right next to the Vamps is a nightmare for the Vamps. She literally crushes everything. Though, that's probably only a problem for the AI. As a player, you can rush them both early and kill them as quickly as possible before they get out of control.

A "diplomatic" way of winning a campaign is to conquer the land you want to hold (like the Empire if you play as Franz) ally with someone and sell him every settlement you take, that way your lands are safe and making money, you are making money winning battles, and your Ally becomes a wall between the enemy and your lands, with all that money you can afford many armies to keep yourself powerful and prevent betrayals. And that goblin killing the gyrocopter isnt that hard to do, that artillery piece has guided projectiles since the giblins use the wings to crash closer to the enemies its aiming for, the dwarves have a rune that allos their artillery to do the same and Hellcanons also have guided projectiles

It is possible to play the game diplomatically, assuming you play as a faction that starts by generating a lot of money, then bribe and confederate other factions. Grom usually survives in my campaign, his starting settlement is pretty up there defence wise and so the French usually can't kill him. When Kemmler attacks he'll sometimes take advantage of the chaos to expand, or he'll just sit there. There are not only separate WAAAGH!'s between battle and campaign (the campaign map WAAAGH! is the only one that can fail), but there are different WAAAGH!'s depending on who your leader is. Grom will heal, Grimgor boosts damage further, Azhag causes terror, etc. I'm pretty sure CA removed that name from the game.

I think it'd be hard to primarily do diplomacy, but supplementing your warring with diplomacy and gaining allies is a solid strategy

At 30:22, that was the mmo war game 'Foxhole'. It is essentially a massive war where players do everything, including gathering resources, manufacturing weapons and ammo and then transporting those items to the front.

Vlad and Isabella are so fun, but also tricky to get the hang of for beginners as Vampire Counts THRIVE on jank, cheese and exploits. If you know what you're doing they're easily some of the most powerful factions in the game. Vlad and Isabella are a two man army as they give buffs to eachother if they're fighting together and Vlad is a MONSTER in mele and is a great caster of the Lore of Vampires which is one of the strongest lores of magic in the game, so he and Isabella can wipe out entire armies all by themselves, plus their lore is really cool on top of all that!

basically when you activate the call to waagh, it takes the amount of units in all the armies you had out when you pressed the button, and gives you units equal to that amount of units, depending on what units your armies are made up of, it can be an even bigger power boost than just having 20 random units more, although as it counts as a separate army, you can't have four of your own armies and four waaagh armies in the same battle

So once upon a time, Greenskin armies had a little meter unique to each army rather than a factionwide bar. This was that army's "fighty-ness" level. If you didn't keep moving around and raiding/fighting, the meter would drop and eventually the ladz would fight each other and the army would take attrition. The more full the meter, the better the bonuses you got until eventually it would max out and spawn a Waaagh army. The problem with this was a) the Waaagh army was under the control of an AI that kinda generally followed its parent army around, but rarely did what you wanted it to do and b) at this point in history, if two Greenskin armies were too close, they would both take attrition as they passively brawled. This made the Waaagh army something that you would spawn and then try to get it tossed in a meat grinder immediately to soften up your enemies before it became a problem for you. Alongside Warden and the Paunch was the Great Greenskin Rework which completely overhauled how Greenskins work. No more fighty-ness, no more passive attrition if your armies are too close, and Waaagh armies are now just a free set of reinforcements for every army over a certain size once you call a Waaagh! It was easily the best change the Greenskins as a whole ever saw and if you want to witness the horror that was playing the Greenskins (or Beastmen since they shared a lot of the stupid army mechanics), then you'd have to go back to Warhammer 1. Now that the Empire and Dwarfs have been pretty significantly overhauled, I'm pretty sure the only races left that haven't seen any significant updates are the Vampire Counts and Bretonnia (but they were DLC and they're French so I'm really just waiting for the Vampires to get some love)

@lich109 That's not a rework and hardly massive. It's a barebones mechanic that added some better than average lords and campaign bonuses. It's also something most people who play VC forget to interact with since the things that have the biggest impact are the first tiers of Von Carstein (bonus public order) and Strigoi (bonus corruption) and the third tier of Blood Dragons (no more attrition from lack of vampire corruption). And then once you're done with your bonuses, you can't spend Blood Kisses on anything. Ikit unlocks bonuses and can spend excess warpfuel on nukes. Elspeth unlocks bonuses and can spend excess schematics on magically infused ICBMs with various effects. The Dwarfs and Tomb Kings have an item crafting mechanic. All of these things you can interact with the whole game and continue to spend resources on. The Bloodlines mechanic is something you interact with a maximum of 15 times and then you completely forget about it. Or you can ignore it and not really miss out on much. The Vampires need serious attention since the most impactful change they've seen was when Ghorst and Mannfred were moved out of Sylvania and Ghorst became a Lord worth playing

@lich109 it wasn't a rework, it was a borrowed mechanic from the Tomb Kings. But at the very least it was something you could interact with throught the whole game. And I never said Blood Kisses were easy to come by (even though they are if you just keep wounding enemy heroes). My main complaint is that you only interact with the system a maximum of 15 times and can't spend your Blood Kisses on anything once you've finished all three tiers of the 5 Bloodlines. But to your main point: a single added mechanic is not a rework

It feels pretty much free when they press the Waaagh on Campaign. That whole mechanic is probably why the Greenskins like Skarsnik and Grimgor always did well for themselves throughout every campaign. Though I'm starting to see changes now with Thrones of Decay. They're finally getting toppled by the Dawi like Ungrim and Grimgor has big problems with Tamurkhan. Tamurkhan spreads like locusts now, and once he unites with Kugath they're like a 2-man wrecking team that even AI Imrik can't seem to stop.

So I played the game diplomatically in my total war:Warhammer 2 empire game and won because of the fact that your allies owing a settlement while in Military alliance with you counts as you having access to it. So yes you can, but your still at war with their enemies as well half the time. So yes, but be prepared before going into an allaince of any sorts. In that campaign, I helped Thorgrim Grudgebearer reclaim Karaza-a-Karak from Grimgor.

Empire and High Elves have/had faction mechanics around improving or reducing relations between factions if memory serves. Typically you do need a bit of violence to get started and build some relations though. (Cathay also some mechanics for it and plenty of factions have confederation mechanics that aren't based off combat but generally if they aren't your faction then you're going to need to fight someone to work with them.)

You can play diplomatically with some races. Forexample as settra you can vassal any faction. More vassals you have stronger your diplomatic standing will be which by the end snowballs into you vassaling all types of men, dwarves, all types of elves including dark, all types of chaos, all types of vampires, ogres... Litterally everything with 0 efford on your part. A world conquest without conquest, everyone is in peace including chaos gods under your rule. You cant stop them from talking shit on the diplomacy screen even as the ruler of the universe tho
