You should watch Reggie's "I Used WW1 Tactics to Survive Armageddon in Total Warhammer 3" video, it is honestly quite a lot of fun, and showcases a rather fun(if OP) mod, one that convinced me to play the Empire for the first time. Also the first time I'd played a human faction at all.

So about the wood elf/lizardman faction. That's a rogue army, and rogue armies can be a mix of two factions even if they would never go together in the lore. I've got a screenshot from game 2 of an army that was made up almost exclusively of Grail and Blood Knights, despite them both being mortal enemies in the lore. It was also a very hard fight. I think most of Nagash's books in game 2 were actually held by rogue armies (I don't want to definitively say if that's also the case in game 3).

its about half and half in WH 3, and I don't think they changed anything about their placement or anything. Not like with the wood elves which got a new magic forest in Cathay.

Wanted to add something. At the start of every campaign, there's a kind of value given to all lengemdary ai factions, and those cam dramatically change how well a faction is doing while you arent looking. For example, in my campaings, Throgg usually either rolls up and dies or is confined to very few lands. But while playing as Grimgor, who did I find having beaten down the Chaos Dwarfs? Freaking Throgg. (At turn 50, mind you.) So yeah, that initial value is given so there isn't a faction that just guarantee dies every single match, so the players can have some variety on who they'll meet and interact with.

That’s honestly a good way of going about scaling the A.I. factions given that power creep is VERY much a thing in this game. A good 50% of the factions would realistically be dead within the first few turns lol.

except for a few factions which just always do poorly. Morghur the Shadowgave and Beastmen in general don't really do anything, though for some reason Morghur also tends to be ignored by any AI, just squats on Montenas the whole time.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, Reggie technically failed, there's nine books of Nagash, the last of which is held by Arkhan. You can't normally collect it because it's his faction gimmick (the book allows you to recruit from the Vampire Counts roster even if you're not a Vampire Count).

I wouldn’t technically call that a fail. Physical no one can collect it and it technically doesn’t do anything for anyone except for Arkhan and even destroying his faction doesn’t change that. So out of eight collectible books, he collected eight books. So, he succeeded.

@@evandonnelly2760 The goal is to collect every book, and thematically you could still attack Arkhan and claim victory once he was dead, especially since Reggie has done similiar things in the past (like killing Vlad and pretending he's dead forever even though he'd be back in one turn).

Rogue armies are a feature of the books of nagash hunt and only those factions can see and fight them, but there are also just random rogue armies that can spawn around the map similar to beastmen, in my experience they were much more prolific in wh2 but they are extremely scary and unfair to go against, turn 13 full army of dinosaurs or turn 16 full army of steam tanks and helstorn rocket batteries should give you an idea why

There are some pirate armies in the water that are visible to anyone (though maybe they only appear when you have the Vampire Coast DLC). Technically they are neutral but have a habit of randomly attacking your own forces at sea so at this point I just consider them as always hostile. Then again the same goes for any rogue army on land thanks to anti-player bias anyway. Only difference is that a freshly spawned rogue army needs some time to recruit to full strength and might not be an immediate danger.

ogre have a special buff againt's anti-large unit for their monstruous infantry. It reduce damage due to charge with bullgryn and the like.

Yeah it is a little frustrating playing the ogres sometimes. However they are also pretty good at killing infantry and have their ogre charge to ignore defenses. So a lot of times it comes down to micro and numbers.

I've never played warhammer 3, I just stuck with warhammer 2 because I can't afford a new PC at the moment. However, the AI there also player bias. Though, warhammer 3 is probably worse since there are alot of factions. I was playing Queek, and currently wiped out some high elves and krok gar. Gor rok, for some reason, demanded 7500 gold from me. Of course, I denied then Gor rok and 3 of his buddies charged head first to my capital. I won the fight, but man was that stressful.

I've never been a fan of these types of mod showcases. When it's something in the game by default, it's fun because you know for better or worse, it's meant to be like that. Even the stupid stuff (like in Baldur's Gate 3, being able to steal an entire seller's inventory by just placing it inside of a backpack) is fun to laugh at because you're laughing at the people who accidentally made it this way. When it comes to a mod though, anyone can make a broken mod, and I just look at them and go "yeah, that's broken, have fun I guess." Maybe I've been soured by plenty of TW mod creators who turn out to be... Less good at making changes than the devs, and unable to accept any kind of criticism, but I don't really find it fun to watch people go throw a deliberately broken campaign with a deliberately broken faction. It's like asking if you're going to win with everything turned to Very Easy. I kinda feel the same way to a lesser extent about mods that directly lie to the player, like ones that say they add in "missing units" when in reality they add units that faction should not have access to (such as the Beastmen one that adds Gors with Great Weapons or Bestigors with Shields). Even so, I'm not here to take a dump on other people's fun (which is why I didn't post this on the previous mod faction showcase with the kraken character), I don't tell people to stop playing those factions, and honestly I'd like to play them myself if they weren't absurdly broken (and make no mistake, the Dread King is extremely broken despite Reggie's blunders). I did want to give my thoughts though.

I can see where you're coming from. It's certainly more impressive to see someone exploit or overcome a game with it's intended function rather than breaking it with mods. I'd say that's why SpiffingBrit's videos are so good. For me though I just find it interesting seeing a showcase of a mod I'll likely never get around to, coupled with Reggie's sense of humor and absurd tactics at times xD.

​@@TheLegitWeebs Some of SpiffingBrit's stuff kinda fits that for me as well to be honest, and I don't want to sound negative all the time so I'll limit the examples. When playing Warhammer 1 he turned down the unit sizes then used the Ruby Ring (it lets you shoot fireballs) to instantly destroy enemy units. Playing with smaller unit sizes is the equivalent to setting the game to "very very very very easy" which is why I hold that in the same tier as fan mods. Don't get me wrong, some of his stuff I really liked, but then he'd put out content like that, or deliberately lie in his videos (a good example is his StarCraft 2 video) and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's a personal thing that stems from real life drama (so I don't try to dissuade other people from watching him), but I don't like being lied to, even for the sake of comedy.

@@lich109 u can clearly see that the players like britt or this one here are just not that good at the game and beeing bad makes for bad content (mostly) so they set it up easy on them in a way only good players woud be able to reconize. i play this game since 8 years and i can see what they did even if they dont show it directly but 99% of ppl watching this wont be able to do so. i do like the videos for the most part because they are just fun but i think most ppl watch them and think they woud lern something and they absolutly do but it wont improve their skills because its false information. (btw i am a big fan of tw mods because i can also make it way harder and more interesting. for me this game woud be boring by now if i coud not play with my collection of mods to give me a challenge after many 100 campains

u can repositon where ur reinforcements are going to show up on the edge of the map... the fact that he did not know this core-mecanic realy bothers me ^^ how on earth is it possible to make this many videos and still never lerned this easy thing :D. i hope u will will remember it when u get ur reinforcing army on top of the enemy reinforcements. just tell them to come a few meters away from the enemy and u have a perfect flank or let them get to the battle from the other side of the map i wanna properly set up ur formation to win ;) depends on ur armycomp ofc
