Well i know for a fact that you'll enjoy the next big video, just nothing but Vaati talking for just over an hour and a half about all the dragons in Elden Ring

If you look at it from another angle, flames also represent change, transformation and energy making them also natural enemies of the scarlet rot stagnation and decay.

so, commander o'neil has very little lore. the best we've got is his dad, commander niall (o'neil means "son of niall"), and he works for miquella up in castle sol, where the eclipse stuff is happening. that might imply golden order loyalty, or at least miquella loyalty, putting him on malenia's side, but we've got basically nothing else.

Ah yeah, the way Irish surnames work. Good catch. Well, loyalty to Miquella is I think pretty much guaranteed in both their cases, I think. Funnily enough, both of the commanders lack one of their legs (because they're reskins but shush) and iirc how it looks when the MC wears their armor matches one of Godrick's legs - interesting, no? So at least one of them lost his leg to Godrick... *Somehow.* I'm gonna be honest, I think either of them would wipe the floor with the snotty, whiny bastard. Man, I wonder whether their lore could be expanded upon in the DLC? I doubt it, but it IS pretty much Miquella-centric. Maybe we get a few crumbs of Niall / O'Neil lore... Maybe. BTW has Xero reacted to the DLC gameplay and lore trailers yet?

I have not yet seen anything about the DLC. Been meaning to check them out once I finish learning about the general lore, so that I can potentially do some theorycrafting of my mine, and likely fail...

@@TheLegitWeebs well, if you're watching Vaati videos, you're probably gonna come up with something decent, haha! Though, of course, it would probably be the most fun if you pulled from a more personal experience with the game; people like Vaati, Zio, SmoughTown, Rata and others don't come up with this stuff out of thin air, after all. Who knows, maybe you'd catch something all of us missed? Well, that's just a suggestion, and your schedule seemed pretty busy last I remembered to check. Still, nothing beats the feeling of discussing this stuff from a more personally familiar point of view. It feels like if you were a wizard at this huge table discussing obscure, generally unimportant but really interesting stuff... Man, that was cheesy. Well, the last thing I'll say is; Vaati's vids are basically taken as the best of the best, and while it's usually great, a lot of the time people stick to what he says as if it was official lore, so it can get hard to discuss stuff when people just recite what Vaati said. At least half of the fandom is super paranoid that Miquella is gonna be a villain in the DLC thanks to Vaati vaguely implying Miquella *could* be a manipulative person. Look, Vaati likes to theorize a lot - all of us do - so even his lore videos tend to have some number of unofficial theories, or mentions of cut content that technically isn't canon any more (since it's, you know, cut and all that)... Don't go TOO far down the rabbit hole. Elden Ring is both more and less than what these videos would have you believe - sometimes it's not that deep, sometimes it's even deeper and sometimes, well sometimes there's no definitive answer. Maybe multiple things could be true, maybe only one but we don't know which... But the main stuff is usually pretty simple and straight-laced. These hour-long story videos that cover just one theme or just one character... I sometimes feel it's a bit too much. It's well known that Miyazaki wants us to do this - he makes a full story and then cuts stuff out so that people make stuff up for themselves. But sometimes I feel like letting something be a mystery is just as good, you know? Sorry for the rant. TL;DR don't get too wrapped up in lore, you'll start thinking you have all the answers - we all go through this phase of thinking we know exactly what's going on, lol. Edit: "Last thing I'll say is-" *proceeds to ramble

Once again it is fun to see these videos with the context of not only the DLC trailer but also Miyasaki's comments regarding the requirements to enter the DLC being the first one to kill Mogh (nothing unusual is what we expected) but the second one is to kill Radahn, this simple requirement sent the community into chaos making theories about Miquela's plan because if it is necessary to kill him it is possible that in this video Vaati was close with the theories he proposed as to why Malenia fought Radahn. Also just to be sure, you are going to watch the Prepare to cry videos right? I love the level of production that Vaati invested in them and I feel that some of the doubts you have is because you don't know about the endings of the game in detail.

I will most certainly be checking out the Prepare to Cry videos. I don't know what the best order to watch them in is, because I've been suggested various different ways, so I'm sticking to the playlist that Vaati made to simplify things for myself.

Keep in mind, there's a cut, original version of the Waterfowl Dance that actually looks like, you know, a DANCE. It definitely looks like something that the Blind Swordsman would've used, a sort of ritual dance to seal away the God of Rot. Just like with the current version, Malenia was supposed to do it in the fight as well.

@@TheLegitWeebs yeah they ended up removing it because it would prove too overwhelming, as an attack, for the player. It was constant aggression with little windows and for a much longer time. It looks like HELL lmao

I reccomend watching "Elden Ring is a Cosmic Horror Masterpiece" by FatBrett. He does a deep dive into the Scarlet Rot and the other outer gods that I think you'd enjoy
