Little story about the Ostsol. Was playing at a game fair many many years ago. Was a defensive fight inner sphere (us) vs. Clan invaders (dudes who set up the encounter). Mind you this was when the clans were first introduced for the table top game and ALL the "Unseen" mechs were still in use. I was running an Ostsol the encounter took place on and around a dormant volcano. The dudes did an awesome job constructing a 3D map. If I remember the volcano it self was 10 or 12 levels high. Anyway I found myself one on one against an Mad Dog (aka. Vulture). Nice thing about the Ostsol, or all the Ost line, is that all their weaponry is in the torso, making them very durable. We met about midway up the volcano and proceeded to pound the stuffing out of each other. The Mad Dog got the first serious blow in and took off a leg. This meant every time I got hit I pretty much fell. Fortunately for me I pretty much always fell towards the up hill slope. Less damage from falling easier to get up (we rolled randomly for our pilot skills, mine was actually a veteran pilot. I think I was a 4 gunnery but like a 2 piloting). I managed to get s good grouping with my 2 large lasers and three of my 4 med. lasers all to one of the side torso hitting the LRM ammo and removing that side. We ended up taking each other out, him kicking my other leg off and damaging my gyros with some crits, and me getting a third engine shot to the center torso. One of the best battles I ever had playing.

The Shadow Hawk really came into its own with Com Star upgrade. Ultra AC/5, LRM 15 w/Artimis IV and 2 ER Med Lasers and C3, endo-steel and XL reactor.
