I really enjoyed the sequel but only because the aerial cinematography is so immersive. For tension and character building the first is in a league of it's own. I thought the scene w/ Merlin cracking under the stress was one of the most tense scene's I've ever seen, Faltermeyer's track in the background really puts the tension to an 11, Scott's filming techniques in this scene really makes you feel like YOU are following the glide path in, very nerve racking stuff, give you a taste of what these guys actually have to overcome to get back to their families.
