Part of this deleted scene was referenced in the final version of the film. The bit where the black kid say's "this blows." This is referenced when the Pteranodon takes the tachyon amplifier and Rick say's almost the exact same thing.

There's only one reason why I find this scene important for the movie. The kid saying to Rick "This blows." because when the his device is taken away later, Rick says "Oh that blows. That BLOWS."
