So this formidable fortress town falls after nearly two years of stubborn resistance. Hard to believe it's happened but here it is. By liberating Makeyevka, Russian forces drove Ukrainian troops out of the last major settlement in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) that Kiev controlled, Makeyevka was the last major settlement in the LPR held by Ukrainian troops. Now, it’s safe to say that almost all of the LPR has been liberated and Ukrainian militants' control less than one percent of its territory. A small piece of land in the Svatovo and Kremennaya area remained under Ukraine’s control. However, judging by how things are going along the line of engagement, the full liberation of the LPR is not too far away. Washington has no ‘magic capability’ to help Ukraine change the face of the conflict, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters at a briefing.

@aarontheaviationaddict3643Ай бұрын
@@gregmasters8558 A lot of probing, yes. But can you label repeated failed mass assaults in the same area as “probing”? Throughout the first few months of 2023, the Russians made the same error of trying to storm the Vuhledar fortress head on. No sane commander would ever try to conduct a direct frontal assault against such a powerful fortress. And even after those repeated frontal attacks failed, the Russian commander just kept repeating the same old foolish move. “The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, and hope for a different outcome.” - Albert Einstein That’s why I said earlier: The Russians pulled it off because they have learned valuable lessons from their past mistakes. I’m certain that the former commander in this sector was demoted/fired, and replaced by a more competent leader. That’s why, instead of trying to storm Vuhledar head on just like so many times before, the Russians switched tactics and bypassed the fortress altogether, almost besieging it and starving it of manpower and resources. What the Russians couldn’t achieve in early 2023, they have finally succeeded. And yes, you’re correct that Russia is gaining experience as the war drags on. From their failures in 2022 and early 2023, the Russian army has learned and adapted to the environment created by their enemies. Their tactics and strategies have improved, their manpower is growing and they are now using their resources more wisely. Their successful defence against Ukraine’s counteroffensive in mid-2023, their victory in Avdiivka, and now their successful capture of Vuhledar demonstrate all this. The RuAF of 2022 was insignificant next to the RuAF of today.

Trusted Pro-Russian sources are saying don't bank on the lines collapsing as all the men who left Vuhledar are now manning Bohoivalenka to the north... Right now, morale will be extremely low and for most part, these men have been cooped up in relative safety for many months, simply doing artillery, mortar and drone missions, now they will have to dig or be killed. So I think what will happen next is the same as what happened in Berdychi, The UA will send in a more trained unit, with support of Bradleys to halt any advances in the open. However, since Kursk and Kharkov, these well trained lightning units have been dropping the ball continually. We will see...
@tokachinter1Ай бұрын
Your analysis of the AFU's next moves is quite good. I would just add that the 82nd Air Assault is in the process of rebuilding after Kursk where lots of personnel and OTAN equipment like Bradleys were lost. However both their lost equipment and elite fighters are irreplaceable. In fact, this is their third or fourth rebuild and every time their ranks are diluted more and more with conscripts, hence they have been dropping the ball more, lately. I haven't read any news about the 80th Air Assault Brigade, though there performance in Kursk was similar to the 82nd.
