Probably my favorite division from this entire expansion (both allied and axis). An infantry centric force, but without the problem children units that plagued Men of Steel with their power creep, has some strong tools to counter enemy armour and planes, but does not proliferate endless King Tigers and rocket arty in the way some of the other infantry options do.

Well no suprise but more Tiger E spam in this division lol!! Tiger tanks were incredibly rare with the most the German's ever having being around 650 in mid 1944 ( 430 being operational.) So 430 tanks to cover a 3,500 KM front but they're in 80% of SD2 German divisions lol!! Oh well i guess.

@@adamjaquay4279 That makes some sense in context. For starters, unlike other tanks like the Panther, Tigers were, in the overwhelming majority of cases used in independent battalions and companies as fire brigades, These ranged between 10-30 (although on paper the standard is supposed to be 40/battalion) actual tanks, which means a small number can be spread out over a wider range. The other thing is that as fire brigades they were shuffled around a lot, mainly to wherever the fighting was the heaviest. Since SD2 for obvious reasons covers areas where larger battles and operations took place, and not ones where the front was relatively static, you have a selection bias with regards to the elements featured - since any division from a heavy combat sector would be infinitely more likely to fight in proximity to some Tigers than, I dunno a division sitting on garrison duty in Norway. And finally there is the fact that the game takes place over like a half-year period at this point, meaning the same unit company/battalion could show up supporting 2 or more different units since they did so, only at different points in time. So, you could have a single battalion of Tigers fight during Normandy, get a bit of R&R during redeployment to the east to counter Bagration after like 2 weeks of Normandy, and then end up fighting in the counterattack at the Courland pocket. And with this, they would have the chance to appear in 3 different DLC, supporting 3 different units at different points in time. Of course the other caveat is the fact that very few divisions get more than 1-2 cards of Tigers, whereas cards of Stugs, Panzer IVs and Panthers are far more readily available. Also, just as a quick aside, I made my comment with respect to the negative impact KTs and rocket arty have in a multiplayer setting (which this DLC is for, with no single player campaign, or even historical battles) where spamming those 2 is already an ongoing issue. Regular Tigers are far less egregious, from a balancing perspective as they can actually be dealt with in the same manner as all other tanks, whereas KTs need monumental amounts of rocket arty or offmap to be gotten rid of, something that contributes to sucking the fun out of 10v10.

The Ersatztruppen Paris perfectly represents what this division is. You can see all kinds of uniforms from regular soldiers, to sailors, airmen and even civilian clothing. It shows how desperate the Germans are at this point, that they take on scattered soldiers from wherever they find them and arm them with whatever they have, in order to mount some kind of cohesive unit

It looks like a 1939 french army revamped and upgraded with german equipment of 1942. All those chenillettes FT17 and Panhard transformed to light vehicles, and french fighters from 1935 with the Dewoitine 520 its amazing... It makes you see how desperate was the situation for the Germans on the west front...

It would be nice to give UE 630f Sicherung also Security trait. As Sicherung squads have it and UE 630f MG also. Question: Will 352 Infantry also get Sicherung West squads? Since its also western front division and it currently has normal (eastern) version of Sicherungs.

That's an excellent question because 352nd actually took units from Paris and .716. specifically a security regiment from Paris and an artillery battalion from 716. So is 352nd going to lose those units?

with so many C phase bombers, it seems crazy not to have more escort fighters for the late game, and tube artillery instead of mortars so run SEAD/DEAD

I’m new to Steel Div, I’m confused as hell with all the expansions! How do I get Spitfires!? I’ve bought the base game and have no RAF spitfires or any cool allied aircraft. Do I need a particular expansion? I’m trying to read all the notes on steam but it mostly states divisions and not full unit breakdown. I have played Wargame lots and now into WARNO so I feel like I’m missing something simple. Any help???

Super disappointing to not see FT17s in the support tab or even the tank tab like some other obsolete tank models like the Pz IV C and H35, just let us play with the fun little tankettes Eugen :/
