Just seems so odd this still, years later, only has 4200 views.

Fantastic lecture. I teach art history and I love how society impacts visual culture, I never thought it from the angle of locks and security. Thank you.

This is amazing on so many levels - the history of the technology - the technology itself - the parallels of computer security I think we're about the point where people are starting to realize their perfect locks are getting picked...

I'm pretty sure I have already watched this video before uploaded by other sources (or maybe this was a re-upload to fix audio/video problem), but it is always fun every time I watch it. You are such a fun speaker to listen to.

Yeah, I realized that I had it in a playlist linked to RVASec, which I loved, but in order to have a playlist be an "official series" which lets you do some extra stuff, you can't include linked videos. I wanted my collected talks to be in the "official series" so I removed the linked ones and have started uploading my own copies. I have another that I just worked on that I don't think has ever been online, but I'm getting so nervous about the audio issues that I'm taking some extra time with it before putting it up. And thanks! I really appreciate it :)

Lots of great information here. Medeco is a great example of placing a bounty on picking there locks and then sealing there own fate. Similar advances of the old time are happening now in this time with the addition of electronics. Best Quote: "The makers and breakers are the same person"

I find the internal pins to be beautiful, especially Driver Pins with Security features. The locks, I find fascinating and interesting, but counter-milling is really awesome to stare at too. I'm still brainstorming on a way to carry some pins from a lock on my keychain that are always visible. I already carry a euro-cylinder, antique warded key can opener, a small padlock and some other key/lock related stuff on my keychain.

Haha, that must be a heavy keychain. I saw a beautiful display from Abus when I was in Germany one year. They had one of their normal pin tumbler locks perfectly blown apart and encased in clear resin. A quick google found this tutorial for floating buttons in a bracelet, I think the same principle could be applied to a small fob for your keychain: www.resinobsession.com/Resin-Tutorials/286/Button-Bangle-Resin-Bracelet-tutorial.html

***** Wow! That would be awesome! I never imagined that! I have a scorpion encased in clear resin that I bought off ebay, why not exploded lock parts?... and so, another research adventure begins.

Lockman789 So...after sending you that comment, I got a bit curious myself and actually have a jug of resin & a mold arriving at the house today. I'm planning to experiment a bit in the garage tomorrow :)

Cool! I wonder if that is similar to how Southord made their $40 clear lock (which I own). If so, It may be fairly cheap to make one like it (though you would need precision and power tools for cutting holes). www.southord.com/Lock-Picking-Tools/Practice-Lock-Cutaway-Visible-Locks-ST-35.html

Lockman789 Hey, bud - thought you might get a kick out of my early experiments: imgur.com/a/c3kC5 The one I pulled out wasn't fully set, yet (takes ~3 days) but I pulled it early to check on the progress as I didn't mind that one getting marked up, being that I had messed up the pin placement pretty badly. Will be pulling the other 3 tomorrow.

Schuyler, u seem like a good g uy, I almost find it unbelievable u have responded to most of the comments on ur videos. I have a lock pick material id like to tell you about. I have tried the w/s wipers, and hack saw blades. They just werent very good. The wipers were too small, and the hacksaw broke too easy. However, i found THE material. May even be better then professional picks. No joke.

First ill tell u im an auto tech for ford. I was pulling a DIPSTICK to check fluids when i realized the dipstick was the perfect size for lp tools. So i went to salvage and bought a variety. 10 Bucks for as many as i could carry. The gm oil (not tranny) dipsticks seem to be the best. No matter gow much u remove they keep their strength. So try it

Huh! That's awesome. Thanks for the tip, man. I've played around with some drain snakes, but they wind up being a bit too thick. I never thought of trying a dipstick. Sweet.

About 3 months ago i was curious about lockpickig after an episode of burn notice. My very first video was of u in the 20 part video u made. I was hooked. After i realized how good dipsticks work i realized i had to tell u. Please obtain a few and try. U will love rhe combo of strength and flexibility. I hope to chat some day and one day be a mamber of locksport. Thanks schuyler

My left ear is smart enough to have the volume low when I wear a headset because : a) it's not deaf b) It finds it mundane to spam boring, overused comments to pretend it's smart. So.Yeah...

KZbin should offer to duplicate a single audio channel to make it come out of both left and right speakers after you upload it.
@0Raik
@0Raik 10 жыл бұрын
Indeed it should... also to the other guy, I never used headset/headphones/earphones of any kind... Logitech Z623 2.1 THX certified so no I'm not deaf and thought it was weird so mid video I paused and tried winamp in left channel and right channel, my speakers are fine thank you.

Lockman789 YT should do a lot of things. Audio, in particular, has been an ongoing frustration. I'm finding that my setup at home is dramatically different than what many of my viewers wind up experiencing, and yet making simple tweaks requires uploading a new video, rather than being able to bump the gain or dupe a channel. They even have the tools to let you make those modifications...but then instead of updating your current video, it creates a duplicate of it with your small adjustment. Anyway, I'm just complaining now! Thanks for watching the video. Hopefully they'll continue to get better audio-wise as I'm becoming more and more aware of the subtleties as I go along.

No mention of the failed or refused attempts eh? He failed on the Cotterill Climax Detector lock and refused to even try on the Chubb Bank Lock, as well as the Parsons Balance lever. Hobbs praised Chubb on his Bank Lock and that model of detector lock was an old design by that time, the Chubb Definitive Patent was offered to him but he refused, why not mention those Mr Towne, I sense a little bias.
