3:56 Showtime needs to write and deliver Quinn Prequel Missions. Explore the character's background, further reveal Dar Adal's off the book hitmen. The house where Quinn had flashbacks to, in New York with the diner nearby. SHOWTIME--if you want to excite the fans with a jolt, NEW QUINN MATERIAL Quinn was my favorite character next to Brody, Fara, Max, Astrid. I was devastated when he was killed. His passion for his work and his love for Carrie were bar none. He faced so many insurmountable challenges for Saul, Dar Adal and Carrie. Honestly, I hoped he wouldn't die. The homeland is not the same without Quinn. I can honestly say that this is the only series I have ever seen that I was so moved by. I felt like I lost a family member - Homeland. I will never forget Quinn, you never got the credit you really deserved. You miss it now and forever.

1:32, 3:55 Carrie´s restrain reaction when Quinn died. when Brody died, Carrie climbed the fence, screamed his name, cried. She expressed herself. It's a super painful scene, heartbreaking and emotional. Even today, when I see that scene, I cry again. It is very sad. And it's sad because they were killing him and it was enormously sad because she was witnessing it and i was nothing she could do. NOW... Carrie was with Quinn when he died and she was shocked. I understand the impact. And it also strikes us as viewers (when I see the scene I cry with a sense of desperation, even now) but I don´t think it was the best choice on the part of Gansa. Neither narrative nor artistically. Because, in a way, it leaves the viewers out, and that is always a complicated thing, either when you’re telling a story but also, when you’re watching it. Beside the obvious storytelling similarities (Carrie is present for both deaths, and it’s the death of someone she’s in love with) there are also technical similarities. Both “The Star” and “America First” were directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and photographed by David Klein. However, the lead-up to the scenes is obviously different. Unlike with Quinn, both the audience and Carrie understand that Brody will die (even Brody knows this). Once Javadi says he’s been sentenced to death by hanging, we know what’s going to happen. The question then becomes just how devastating it will be. One of the most heart-wrenching shots of “The Star” is of Carrie walking up to the square when she first sights the crane and it dawns on her: this is how it will be. You have something similar in “America First,” not when she discovers Quinn’s dead, but before, when he tells her to get in the car. There is an understanding there, perhaps not that he’d die but that something important was about to happen. Both men also have a moment of resolve, too, right before the end. While Brody’s likely takes place minutes, if not hours before, Quinn’s takes place just seconds before. As he stares straight into the camera-and into a line of soldiers with weapons aimed squarely at him-he makes his decision. The music here builds up into a crescendo, and then for a moment it’s eerily quiet. The most obvious difference between the two scenes in this context is Carrie’s place in them. When Brody dies, she is literally forcing herself to watch-to look into his eyes, so he’s not alone. The camera shoots her straight on. When Quinn dies, he’s instructed her to “stay down,” to avert her eyes. As such the camera shoots Carrie from above or below, behind objects and around corners. Our view of her is as obscured as her view is of Quinn. And when she finds him slouched in the front seat, she can’t look, physically turning her head away. Carrie calls out Brody’s name so that in his final moments alive he can find her face in the crowd. So that he’s staring at her instead of a bloodthirsty crowd. He finds her, and they share a moment of recognition-of the end of whatever they shared between them: love, lust, obsession, any or none of above. It’s the exact moment Carrie is knocked from the fence that Brody takes his last breaths. When she pulls herself to her feet, he’s gone. Inside the car with Keane and Quinn, after the rush of commotion and bullet fire, it’s again silent. Just like Brody, he was there one second and gone the next. In both scenes there is something inaccessible between the audience and Carrie and between Carrie and either Brody or Quinn. In “The Star” we glimpse her from behind a chain-link fence. It’s what separates her from Brody and from us in the audience. In “America First” there is no real physical partition-you could argue it’s the boundary between front seat and back seat in the car-but the oft-discussed lack of touch between Carrie and Quinn after she sees him dead suggests this. Except for a rushed clutching of his arm in the very beginning, they stay curiously separate. In Tehran, once it was over, Carrie turned around and walked herself out, weaving through the screaming crowds. In New York, she retreats into the back seat, goes still and then silent as a crowd of pedestrians flocks to the carnage. I usually don't like to double dip but I've had some time to think about it and I'm saying Quinn is the most complex character next to Carrie and Brody. Across his character arc, we watch as Quinn is pulled between the light and his own dark nature. When we meet him, he's a cool customer with no reservation about pulling the trigger on those he's ordered to kill. Now in season 2, he's softened by his fondness for Carrie and by season's end, refuses to kill Brody for Carrie's sake. Across season 3, we see him becoming increasingly disillusioned by the mission of the CIA and by season 4 he wants out altogether, wants to be done with killing. I think at the end of the season, he's very well ready to shack up with Carrie and Franny and live a "normal" life. Unfortunately, when Carrie spurns him, his dark nature pulls him back to the thing he's good at. Still, I think we see this pull between the light and the dark within Quinn in lesser ways across his final two seasons and the two aspects of his character come together and resolve at the end of S6. In sacrificing himself, he both saves the woman he loves and goes out on the terms of a warrior, in battle.

3:40 Astrid’s death was so damn heartbreaking... Also I found Astrid's death disheartening cuz she would have defeated the bad guy! She had him. And then she realized what was about to happen before she died. I'll never understand that Carrie has several romantic relationships in almost every seasons (even with Aayan!), and only one kiss with Quinn!! He almost died at least three times for protecting her!! Even died in season 6 finale just for her!! This get me so frustrated because it seems portraying us as we have the pure of love in front of our eyes and ignored it just like that!.. I do love you Quinn! The best character in Homeland!! ❤️ Why couldn't the writers give us a Carrie/Quinn love scene he loved her! Agree, so wanted the happily ever after with Carrie and Quinn. Also nobody mentions that Saul was involved in the waking up of Quinn from his coma. She got all the blame. Irritated me that lol! We can say that Astrid was one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Carrie, Saul, Quinn, Brody, Max, Fara and Dar Adal... It would be possible to clarify the following doubts: - Would you like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press? - Clearly, Javadi's ability to receive credit for Brody's capture helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? - Was your name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you think. - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. He ended up doing that scene ... why ?? Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and she succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was incredible, it will be one of the most memorable moments in the series, without a doubt! “And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see what you see in him. That happened. Everyone sees it through your eyes now ... ” - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see this? It's the world?

1:33 The Nicholas "MARINE ONE" Brody plotline started in the very first episode of Season 1, and ended in the very last episode of Season 3. Brody was a Marine sniper who was captured and detained in Damascus for eight years. During that time, he converted to Islam; moved into the home of al-Qaeda commander Abu Nazir; and began teaching Nazir's son, Issa, English. After Issa was killed in an American drone strike, Brody's loyalties shifted considerably. Later, he would attempt (but fail) to kill the US vice president in a suicide attack. Brody and Carrie "DRONE QUEEN" Mathison first meet during an interrogation when he returns to the US, and Carrie launches an obsessive Brody-surveillance operation while also sleeping with him. (Brody is married to Jessica, who was dating Mike, Brody's former best friend, when she thought he was dead - it's actually a soap opera). Everything erupts when he finds out that Carrie thinks he's a terrorist. Irreconcilable differences! In Season 2 they patch it up, and Brody goes on a mission to win back the loyalty of Nazir on behalf of another CIA plot. Season 2 ends with a car bomb - inside Brody's car, as luck would have it - that kills 219 people who are attending the vice president's funeral. (By this point Brody has managed to help kill the vice president). Al Qaeda airs the suicide tape Brody made before the first assassination attempt, and in Season 3, he becomes a drug-addled fugitive. But then! He returns to the US. He gets clean. He's sent on a new mission, but it goes awry at the Iranian border. Despite this being a very bad idea, he sticks to the script, which is to murder General Danesh Akbar. Unbeknownst to Carrie, part of the plan was to make sure that Brody didn't make it back alive. On the final episode, he's hanged in a public square while Carrie watches. Oh, and she's pregnant with his child, Franny.

5:04 It’s given Carrie her strongest love interest since Brody (R.I.P.)? With apologies to all you Carrie/Quinn ‘shippers out there - that was really more unrequited love/ships passing in the night than a real romance - Carrie hasn’t had a decent man in her life since Brody was executed at the end of Season 3. (And we can debate how “decent” he was, really.) Now Season 7 has introduced Dante Allen (Person of Interest‘s Morgan Spector), an FBI agent who’s known Carrie for years… and has maybe harbored some feelings for her, too. Dante has a lot in common with Brody, it turns out, as Carrie has once again discovered she can’t trust the man she’s involved with. (Last week’s episode was a clear echo of Season 2’s “Q&A,” with Carrie interrogating Dante just like she did with Brody.) The writers have kept us guessing all season long with this relationship - is Dante just using Carrie? Is she just using him back? - so we’re still not sure whether Carrie’s going to end up arresting Dante or marrying him. And just like the Carrie/Brody years, it’s a fascinatingly complicated mess. Right? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you crazy? “It’s given Carrie her strongest love interest since Brody?” There is no more guess, Dante used Carrie, he manipulated her and he has some weird obsession with her. He is not a good or healthy love interest for her. I agree, I’m not sure how this guy good br compared to Brody. Carrie and Brody actually connected on a deeper and emotional(albeit really screwed up with tons of emotional and mental issues between the both of them) level to the point where an unhealthy obsession with a turned POW turned into a tragic (albeit somewhat sick at times) romance where the obsession blossomed into genius and the turned POW turned back and finally achieved redemption in the form of becoming what could be argued as a tragic hero. 0:40 What purpose does the Aileen story serve? Season one: I think the purpose was to humanize Saul and add more depth to his character. To that point, we didn’t really know much about him. Season two: I think they loved Marin Ireland’s performance and chemistry with Mandy Patinkin and wanted to bring her back. And they also got a chance to comment on how horrifically quickly someone could deteriorate in her situation - literally put in a cell to rot for the rest of her life. This was relevant because it was the potential future Brody was facing and nearly got in the same episode for putting his deal with the CIA in jeopardy.

Homeland's Most Shocking Deaths: Prepare to Make a Carrie Mathison Cry Face! Look back at the show's most memorable goodbyes ahead of Sunday's season 5 premiere The first four seasons of Homeland have been a wild ride. Terrorist plots, unexpected betrayals and executions have made for a plethora of memorable goodbyes on the Showtime series. So before we reunite with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) for Sunday’s season 5 premiere, take a look back at all of Homeland’s bombshell farewells that left us astonished. Tom Walker How he died: After regrouping following their botched suicide bomb attack in the season 1 finale, Nicholas Brody (Damien Lewis) and fellow former Marine Tom Walker (Chris Chalk) had mastermind Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) on the phone. Nazir ordered Brody to shoot Walker, and he complied with a swift bullet to the head. Why it was shocking: We saw a shred of humanity in Brody when he made good on his promise to daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) and decided not to denote the bomb vest. But this stone-cold killing reminded us that the dubious American hero was loyal to, and only to, the al-Qaeda operative. William Walden How he died: After Brody helped Abu Nazir retrieve the serial number of Vice President Walden’s (Jamey Sheridan) pacemaker in season 2’s “Broken Hearts,” the terrorist group hacked into the device and accelerated it, inducing a fatal heart attack. Why it was shocking: Walden’s offing earned stunner points for creativity, and was extra jaw-dropping for the eery way his potential runningmate Brody watched him die. Abu Nazir How he died: The terrorist leader is cornered and killed by a SWAT team in an abandoned factory in season 2. Why it was shocking: As the man who held Brody captive for eight years, Nazir was the bad guy on Homeland. To see him finally taken out in a somewhat generic, anti-climatic way was intially a head-scratcher. David Estes How he died: The Director of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center (David Harewood) was killed when a car bomb goes off outside of the agency’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia during a memorial service for Vice President Walden in the season 2 finale. He was one of over 200 victims of the attack. Why it was shocking: Carrie’s boss had often been at odds with her throughout the series, and it was a surprise to see the show abandon such an intriguing dynamic. A massive hit at the CIA’s home base was even more stunning. Susan and Fariba How they died: In season 3, high-ranking Iranian intelligence officer Majid Javadi (Shaun Toub) broke into the home of his daughter-in-law, Susan (Emily Donahoe), and his ex-wife, Fariba (Mary Apick), who had fled to the United States years prior. Javadi shot Susan in the head before slashing his former spouse to death with a broken bottle. When Carrie and Quinn (Rupert Friend) arrived on the scene, they were instructed to leave Susan’s infant son alone in the blood-soaked house. Why it was shocking: The murders and their gory aftermath were shocking chiefly because of their brutality. Fara Sherazi How she died: Terrorists took over the American embassy in Islamabad and carried out a gruesome season 4 massacre. During the siege, leader Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar) stabbed Sherazi (Nazanin Boniadi) in the back. Why it was shocking: It was easy to empathize with the compassionate, brave analyst when she was introduced in season 3. Her likability made the particularly brutal way she died not only shocking, but devastating. Nicholas Brody How he died: Declared an enemy of the Iranian government in season 3, Brody was sentenced to a public execution by hanging. Carrie watched as the life slipped away from her complicated love’s body as a square full of people hauntingly cheered on. Why it was shocking: The leading man had miraculously evaded death for nearly 3 seasons, and it was at the point where we believed the soldier-turned-traitor could survive anything. Brody’s death meant the end of Emmy-winning actor Damien Lewis’ time on the show, and that we had seen the last of his amazing chemistry with Danes.

Clearly, Javadi being able to take credit for capturing Brody helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? Was his name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you thought. - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. You just did that ... why ?? Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was awesome, it will be one of the most memorable moments of the series, without a doubt! "And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see in him what you see. That has happened. Everyone sees him through your eyes now ..." - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see it? It's the world?

6:27 Which country is the most dangerous to spy in? Russia has the best counterintelligence on the planet. The FSB does an amazing job monitoring all potential foreign intelligence officers operating on Russian soil. Over the past decade, Russian intelligence has thoroughly penetrated Washington through and through at all levels. However, the CIA has openly admitted that it has lost all access to the Russian leadership over the same period thanks to the solid counterintelligence work of the FSB.
