My buddy has got his kid to loretta's the last 3 years. In a van. Pretty humble. He's headed there this year too. Hopefully... . Unfortunately his Loretta's bike just blew up and it's almost impossible to find a crank for a gas gas 125 right now. I'm hoping they figure something out.

Moto just isn’t what it used to be. It’s too expensive and forcing the small guys out. Unless you are rich you will not make it in the sport because there is no way you can compete with the top guys who are on factory machines. All these kids will race Loretta’s and have an amazing time but their parents end up broke. I grew up racing and it’s so much different now than it was in the 2000s. Back then I dreamed of going pro, but now I’m so glad I didn’t try to go down that road. I will always love the sport, but it is going down a road that it is dying on.
@Anii6969
@Anii6969 2 жыл бұрын
This what people should be reading cause it's facts . It's turned into Car racing pretty much. Unless you already have a ton of money/wealthy parents you won't make it. There's kids with modded engines $5k+ , $10k+ suspension on top of 2 or 3 , 8k+ bikes. Gear isn't cheap it's turned into a rich people sport. Not counting when you crash and break something eventually cause it'll happen. Medical bills aren't cheap either. I'd say RJ hampshire was the last kid to make it from being really poor. Only reason he did make it was cause he had a rich investor give him some money. He said he would only fund his racing career for 2 years & if he didn't make it he'd have to pay him back. RJ made it by getting Geico Honda's attention & winning races on a cheater bike. I watched his rookie 250 easily beat modded 450's on straight aways so that's saying something. Unless your a fast kid that knows a wealthy investor there is pretty much no shot. It's like being a Formula 1 racer, Charles leclerc who drives for Ferrari now, had a wealthy guy fund his racing. Without money you are pretty much nothing in these sports now and it sucks.
@bpt249
@bpt249 2 жыл бұрын
@@Anii6969 exactly…even when four strokes first came around it wasn’t this bad because at least gear wasn’t as expensive. But yea the medical bills part is huge too. I broke quite a few things growing up and I know it put a lot of stress on my dad. Gear is insane nowadays. You used to be able to get a high quality helmet for half the price of what one costs now..nowadays you will spend 1-2k just on gear alone if you want high quality stuff. Not to mention 8-10k for a bike then everything that goes along with it for repairs. Before you know it you’ve spent 20k to go racing and you still won’t be competitive with the top kids. And if you do go pro the only ones making any real money are the top 5 to 10 guys in each class. I’m not saying people shouldn’t ride, but people need to set realistic expectations for themselves and their kids because this sport will break you financially..I think I remember Josh hill said his parents were 400-500k in debt when he turned pro back in 2006, and his main goal then was paying off their debt. And he was the top A class amateur rider that year at Loretta’s with a full ride to factory Yamaha. So for a full factory rider’s parents to have that much debt what do you think it’s like now for the little guy trying to race and go pro when things are twice as much as they were back then?

Lorettas is the biggest sham there is in motocross. It'd be more prestigious if they actually took sandbagging seriously. Got local A riders racing C class. Then you got Kids like Deegan in B class who just put 30 seconds on the top A riders at red bud. It's a joke. Then you got the soft ass parents in mini classes who get pissed their kid didn't win, so they protest the winners.

How can you say Deegan is a sandbagger in the B class!? Kid was on an 85 a year ago! He’s been on the 250 maybe a year, hasn’t even raced Lorettas on a 250! He’s not sandbagging, he’s busting his ass training and riding! He. Eat some pretty fast A guys, I just don’t understand how you can say it’s sandbagging. You think he should turn pro? Why? He hasn’t even won a Lorettas championship on the 250. What he should go from 85’s right into the A class on a 250? That’s what you are implying. It’s no secret that he is gonna go pro next year, give the kid some time on the bike before just assuming that he is sandbagging. He smoked some super fast guys in the A class! Good for him. Let’s see how he does at Lorettas with the fastest guys in the country in the B class. But I do agree with you on guys who are A riders racing in the C class just to win a Championship at Lorettas! That is sandbagging for sure! Once you get your pro license you can’t run anything but the A class. The officials should have a list of all the A class riders and anyone that gets caught trying to enter the C class gets a lifetime ban from any sanctioned races!
@MichaelAMyers1957
@MichaelAMyers1957 2 жыл бұрын
@@socaljimmyd if you're able to beat the top A riders by 30 seconds, you shouldn't be in B class. And yes, in my opinion, someone of deegans level, should have raced A class all this year, Do mini Os in A class, then aim for the opening nationals of 2023. If he got in top 13-15, race the whole series. If not, finish the year out in A class
