I can't thank you enough for this! I have struggled to draw figures in my urban sketches using the more common "head first" approach, and then measuring the rest of body in terms of head heights. I have never been satisfied with the results. It makes so much more sense to me to start with the largest shape first, just like we do with buildings and every other subject. I drew along with your examples as best as I could, and I can already see an improvement!

Wow! I have watched so many videos on drawing figures and I'm still struggling. Your video is the only one that I've seen that recommends starting with the torso! This makes so much sense to me! Thank you for sharing your talents! New sub here!

Marvellous advice, can’t wait to try it. Always got bogged down with chairs……..thank you for sharing.

Haha yes chair definitely is not important when compared to the figure 😂 but once you get the torso in. Easier to place furnitures around it… it takes some practice still 😉

@@WheeTeck i have been doing exactly this! - it's easy to get caught in just watching videos, but that's not how learning actually happens lol

drawing the torso first! love this approach. I usually start with the head first but often it's too big
@WheeTeck20 күн бұрын
Indeed that’s the problem. Also the head moves more than the torso! So it helps once you anchor down the torso then the other parts come in play 😊
