In this video we show the complete process of removing the stock turbocharger intercooler pipes and installing the ECS Tuning high flow pipe kit.
The factory MQB Gen3 plastic charge pipes and rubber couplers were never designed to handle the stress and abuse of higher boost levels much beyond stock. When combined with power-robbing abrupt and sharp bends, inferior rubber material, and small diameter tubing, it's easy to see why your intercooler pipes and couplers should be replaced.
The factory turbocharger outlet pipe has serious restriction right out of the compressor outlet due to small diameter tubing and irregular obstructions. We improved on this charge pipe by providing a smooth transitioning silicone coupler right off the turbo outlet which carries boost pressure to our carefully evaluated larger, 60mm (~2 3/8") tubing diameter intercooler pipes. The upper intercooler pipe features a CNC-machined and TIG welded mounting flange for the CNC-bent aluminum mounting bracket to allow for OE-like fitment. The lower intercooler pipe features a smooth transition into the silicone intercooler coupler for optimized flow.

Yeah I didn't see the part where he got the bloody pinky knuckle just like I ended up with...these videos make it seem like a walk in the park. it takes a Tertris master to get these out of a 2017 A3 Quattro- much more cramped than the pictured engine bay. And that Throttle pipe going back on is a NIGHTMARE...lol

I installed the charge pipe between the turbo outlet and the intercooler inlet. How much to tighten the hose clamps? Under full load (WOT) the coupling always comes off the OEM intercooler inlet and lose turbo boost. the flange is plastic so I wouldn't want to risk cracking the intercooler connection. Pls help.

Very tight! Crank those puppies down. Plastic flanges should be fine.

Thanks for responding. I did crank down the intercooler inlet coupling and ensure that there is a small gap at the middle coupling for the charge pipe. The minor problem I have now is the 2.5" band around the turbo outlet coupling. I'm using a CTS turbo muffler delete and even with cranking the band all the way to the stop limit, it still feels like it's not that tight around the muffler outlet. That said, for the time being, I'm running 5psi+ over stock (Neuspeed PM) and am worried about running WOT too much in fear that this coupling might fly off. (2018 7.5 R)

I wouldn't worry too much about going WOT, if you do and the coupler does pop off, you just need to find a slightly smaller clamp. Only way to find out is by going WOT!

SH1RO 7R for what it’s worth, I ended up just using the stock clamp on the section (from turbo muffler delete to 90° elbow joint) because the supplied clamp was just a little too big.

ECS Tuning well this sucks cus all I need is the charge pipes don't need the couplings I jst bought that like 2 weeks ago with the turbo muffler delete spend 259 on that and if a get the kit that u have for 299 then I'll be having extra parts..

The couplers you have purchased are meant for the stock piping/routing. Our intercooler piping kit uses different couplers to match our charge pipes. If you are interested in purchasing our kit you should be able to sell the existing couplers you have as there is a good market for them.

Could be heat related, rubber may running a bit cooler and also rubber gives bit more flex which good as the engine is moving whilst the intercooler is stationary.
