Ha! Great tutorial. I'm surprised how similar the unit's design is to much older VW models. Surprisingly, I've never needed to maintain a door switch unit. But, I've definitely had my fair share of VW cable window regulator replacements!!!

I owned a Roomster that following a period of intermittent operation permanently locked the front passenger door. Having removed the door card I was left wondering how to remove the lock as it is secured by fixings on the door edge which of course are not accessible when the door is closed? Having consulted the wiring diagram and having unplugged the locks connector I directly applied around 30 volts DC from an external power supply to the motor connections and fortunately it unlocked. A good dose of electrical contact cleaner on the motors brushes resolved the problem which over several years I had the car proved to be a reliable repair. No such luck however with intemittent operation of the drivers electric window. After much checking of wiring etc replacement of the drivers door combined motor & control unit proved to be the solution. There was nothing wrong with the motor but of course you cannot buy just the control PCB.
