Great video! Here is just a suggestion, maybe do a zoom with one of the members that has used your videos to help them on their project? That way you can see what has helped and what more they would like to see. Just a suggestion.

Slade: this is what I really like about your channel: the axle beam falling to the floor! Some channels appear to have "rehearsed" their repair, so that it is "perfect" on screen. Of course, that is not how life works, a lot of the time, so I appreciate seeing your little "flubs" now and then because then others will see what can happen and try to avoid it. I would enjoy a few "minute videos" but I hope you remember: you get family time too!! Looking forward to the next one.....

You couldn't have posted this at a better time. I just started pulling my ball joints and tie rods to be replaced before I put my drop spindles on. This was a big help. Another great video Slades. You are making my knees hurt sitting on the floor like that lol 😂. People that do this everyday use knee pads to save there knees. Lol. I wish I had more time to work on my beetle more. I’ve only got the weekends off now and they are usually filled up. And working 10 and a half hours a day is too tiring for me to do it after work. I’ll get to it eventually I guess.
@SladesVWBeetle
@SladesVWBeetle 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, my knees are completely shot. Nobody would ever know, I walk normal, and act normal. Well somewhat, but they click a lot now. Probably from abusing them my whole life. Remember to take breaks, I used to work 12 to 14 hours a day. Nonstop. Life went by too quick.
@blakewaddell451

@@SladesVWBeetle I work 11 hours a day and it sucks lol. At least the dealership I work for has a/c so that makes it that much better though. I have knee pads and a kneeling pad for my knees. I get laughed at but I don’t care. I always will take my time 🙂. We get one hour for lunch too.

I’m guessing there is no need to remove the body. Your car appears to be pretty solid. An adjustable beam with drop spindles would give the car a nice stance. That harbor freight electric impact caught my eye. I bought a Ryobi 1/2 inch drive impact. It’s done well so far. As always nice detailed video. Definitely will help people out….
@SladesVWBeetle
@SladesVWBeetle 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Gordon, and thank you for being here. Yes surprisingly, that harbor freight impact works fairly well. I don’t know if I would own one if I was still a mechanic again full-time. But for what I do in the garage it serves its purpose. I would have to say Ryobi is definitely quite a few steps up the ladder. I have one in the house that I keep around that works great.

It sounds like your cable may have lost adjustment. What I would recommend first, is going into the glove box, if that’s where your handle is? And put a pair of vise grips on the cable and pull it. The handle may not be pulling it for enough.

The front beam is really not that hard to do. Heather did a video with me, disassembling the beam. I’ll be doing a tutorial on cleaning and putting everything back together properly. Of course on the front beam. Either jacked mine up on the beam, or further back behind the frame head where you see the mount going actoss with the bolts. I can’t put a picture here I hope that made sense.
