I saw the documentary about josef ganz and i can prove with one argument that they didn't do enough research. They claim that Porsche completely stole the design from Ganz beceause the cars look the samen and they both had käfer (beetle in German) in their name. First off, Porsche was a well astablished name and had been working on his people's car for years and was contracted by major companies at that time, what I'm saying here is that Porsche was probably the greatest car designer at that time and the evolution of the Zundapp typ 12 to NSU typ 32 to the eventual beetle concepts have all simular looks and gradually look more like the beetle. Also they act like Porsche even stole the name from Ganz' "maikäfer" and Porsche's "Käfer", had they done a little more research they would have know that VW started calling the beetle "the beetle" in the 60's. The original name of the beetle was KDF-Wagen NOT Beetle. And then just Typ 1. I have a 1958 Beetle and it says type 1 not beetle on the papers and on the plate in the spare tire well. And also a lot of other reasons why Ganz didn't invented the VW beetle. If you look cars like the steyr 50, mercedes 170h and a lot of different cars from that era which trued to become people car's, they all look somewhat similar like the beetle, why because they had to be cheap, that's why they are small (less metal), small or little windows (glass was expensive then), aerodynamic body (less fuel and higher speeds), engine in the back (better handling for such a tiny car, cheaper and pretty new at that time).
