I remember having Busses back in the day. Pulling their motors was easy, you don’t have to jack up the rear like on Bugs. I’ve been wanting to replace my tin. Thanks for another great vid!

What an ending! That looks like a lot of work! Have you had to do that much to that engine before?

Hey Chrissy, Busy few days. I didn't do the Long-Block, so it made it a lot easier. As for the work on this engine, It was my first assembly on it. I've done about 20/25 rebuilds over the last 35 years. Not to much anymore. LoL Thanks For Watching!

Hi Larry, great vid as always! Hey, we drive on dirt roads so much, curious if you got any tips on keeping dust out of the engine compartment...? Im thinking of rigging some kinda HVAC filters up against the inside of the air intake louvers, or something which doesn't restrict airflow...ideas? 🙂✌️

Hey 👋 Thanks for the props. I’ve had good luck with the air cleaner filtering system I installed, it’s up high by the rain gutter so it doesn’t get the dust from the front tires. As for the engine bay. I blow it out with a leaf blower, or hose it out if it’s muddy every outing. You shouldn’t cover the vents, it will restrict the air flow to the engine. If it stop dust it will stop the proper airflow eventually. After one year of dusty trails my heads and cylinders where very clean of any buildup. The fan did have a little. So if it blows in, it will blow out. 😁 The distributor is the problem, if sealed, it gets hot, unsealed it gets dusty. I did put 13,800 miles on my Bus in the last year and just replaced the cap. Dust or mileage?? 🤙 🏜️

@Vintage Overland Adventures cool 😎 makes sense. Guess I need to pick up a leaf blower and keep up with it👌. I got dual 40's on mine, or I'd rig up something like yours, great engineering dude. The foam overfilters seem to catch it good. I'm trying to remember what the Baja guys used, probably something like your's. thanks again✌️

Larry, I read in the comments below you were going to try a 39MM carb. If it's the same one I'm thinking of, I picked one up a little over a year ago off of amazon. Saw a guy modify one for his 2234 sleeper which got my interest. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooHKeoKVmLqoq9E. Looking forward to what you find with yours.

I went through the Carburetor right out of the box, I found the air mixture screw seal was bad, I went to O’Reillys replaced the small O-ring, and I filed it down make it work. Also, one of the paper gaskets was a little weird like somebody dropped a screwdriver on it and put a little line in it and I didn’t think it would seal correctly. I replace that. The few miles I have on it, seems like it’s running really really good. I put 100 miles on it and carburetor is holding all the adjustments I do to it. Can’t wait to test it on a three hour drive @60mph. Doing a oil cooler this weekend, I’ll need to re-make snorkel air cleaner to handle the 1835 next weekend. 🤞

@@VintageOverlandAdventures Maybe I should of pulled mine apart too. All I did was jet it and adjust. Seems to be doing ok though. No hesitations like i had with the empi carb.

It's a Thick-walled 1835, I just got a new Carburetor gifted to me. 39mm. I was going to play with the EMPI p3. Looks like I'll spend the time on the 39 pic3, (I didn't know it existed)😁
