Just for safety, next time you sand a edge like the window edge that you grind. I would put a wooden block on the sandpaper and wrap the sandpaper around it.. So, if your sanding, and slip you might hit a edge with your hand. You will not cut your finger or hand. That happened to me, and I learn quickly that metal and flesh do not play well at times. Anyhow, love the video. Can’t wait to see the next one.

The time it takes to make it fit right, for a Pro like these guys maybe a day or two. For the rest of us, maybe a year or two! Watching the video's from the beginning has been a education. I am amazed at the skill professional's have learned and grateful for the opportunity to watch over the shoulder to get an idea of what it takes to make it fit. For perspective, the VW Factory mass produced these things daily! I wonder how many came off the line in 24 hours? I'm guessing one every 28 Seconds! Ha? Who knows. Nice job to all!

I bought a Dove Blue small rear window 1962 standard Bus in 1977 for $475 plus I gave the seller my 10-speed bike (I was 16, this was my first car). It had a 1966 1300 cc engine from a Bug, and the John Muir step by step "Idiot" book helped me keep it fixed and running. Since it was a 15 year old car in SoCal it was not yet rusty, but it was dented, so I bought a couple gallons of bondo and some body working tools - my brother named it "das plastik ausgefullt schlitten" roughly "The Bondo Sled." I put some largish decals of Avocet birds on the panels where MicBergsma added extra windows. The back area had an upholsterd bed deep in shag pile carpet. I added chrome wheels and nipple caps. One of my neighbors was wholesaling parts and he hooked me up with a 4 into 1 header with a Corvair turbo muffler for $40. It was all good fun and games for a couple of years until one reckless Saturday night when I rolled it three times over while drifting it around a high school running track. It blew out several windows and was definitely twisted and mangled - but I drove it for another year before selling it for $425! With the huge number of hours going into MicBerg's Bus restoration it is easy to see why nice restored Buses are pricey.

At the VW factory fit wasn't an issue the door had to open and close the lines and door gaps didn't matter so long as water didn't come in the weather seals. This auto shop turns out their product's the same way Rolls-Royce does, Everything is hand fit to perfection. To me only welds in view would need grinding who cares what welds are under the car that service people will see. These guys care! Hidden or not welds are tidied up. They turn out works of art not just show quality cars. At this shop, you get more than what you pay for and then some!

Nice progress, keep the videos coming! I feel your pain. I think I've test fitted the quarter panels on my car at least a 100 times - put them on, check fitment, take them off, adjust, repeat...It's a tedious process but well worth it in the end!! You'll really appreciate all this work getting gaps and body lines lined up once it's finished. And no aftermarket/reproduction panels ever fit 100%. You'll always have to modify them in some way. Kona is going to be beautiful when she's done!!

I am doing the roof to my double cab right now, had the roof shipped from Seattle to San Diego, and the shipper crushed it. I spent a couple hours and got most of the damage out but it will require a lot more work before I can install it. Paying close attention to Claudio's techniques he is really good. I have to replace my bow too. I can't believe he had to remove all those spot welds, maybe the manufacture should not assemble them and leave them apart for ease of installation.

@@MicBergsma Used roof from the same year. It was stepped on and dented pretty heavily which is a shame because it was perfect for shipping.
