This entire series has been, and is, fascinating to watch. If I've learned anything, it's that these meticulous restorations of old inexpensive cars can't possibly be justified on the basis of time or cost. You just have to love the project.

These buses when restored can easily go for 70-90k.

@@TheVWGarage Looks like they cost as much as that, or more, to restore to that level. Consider the hours in this project alone! Then add in all the parts that had to be replaced with new aftermarket stuff. Maybe Mitch will disclose at the end what the final tally was (including placing a value on the time that he and and his girlfriend worked on the project). I sincerely doubt that it makes any economic sense without revenue from the videos and sponsorships. It's got to be about the love of the project.

I really subbed because I miss my 72 bug from Cali. Grew up in Hawaii and Cali and VW was what an Army brat could afford in 86. Move to Porsche 914, fix with skate wheel transmission mount. It worked! Miss those times.

Driving down from " Plau am See " today on the Autobahn to Berlin, I saw a Bus. Beautiful and before I could tell the guy so.. and about Kona. He finished my words and knew all about it. That bus is a star. When it`s done, it will almost be as beautiful as Lori. 😎

You are going to get this done and it will be so immaculate that you won't want to drive it! It will be better than museum quality. I bought a '91 Corolla off eBay and when it got to my house, it was so clean, so perfect, I would have gladly LICKED ANY PART of that car. I felt like it belonged on a showroom floor or in a museum. I drove my first '91 Corolla an average of 2-3K miles a month and now over four and a half years later, I have only driven that 'new' Corolla about 4K miles.

The moment you put the Trim on the right side of the bus, and revealed the whole bus in its full extend , my heart made a jump of joy. This must become the most beautiful bus I have ever seen. I think You saw it yourself. And Claudio, what a hard worker. Doesn't stop until it is perfect. Those safari windows look perfect now with the right gap. And lori, sanding like a machine. She is a hard worker aswel. Ad for you my friend, I lift up my hat and salute you. Despite it is taking longer than expected, you always work with that amazing smile. You and Lori are the perfect couple to handle such a program like this. I am looking forward to the next episode. The finish is coming closer and closer. Hang in there, It is worth it. Skinners must buy Bondo by the pallet. Lol. I've done lots of body work. You put it on, then sand it off, put it on, sand it off...I'm so happy when it's time for spot putty because I'm almost done with bodywork, but then it's time for primer and surface prep. The more time spent on the bodywork, the less time paint prep should take

Hey bud, make sure you remove that black marker completely later on because it will bleed through the paint if it's not removed completely.

I remember putting the door window rubber in mine, my fingers hurt for a couple days. Be careful putting the glass in its real fragile. I broke two of my original glass out of a 11 window, (not bad for a rookie.) Peace
