Day 1 & 2 Mojave Road. The adventure starts on Hwy 95 in Searchlight Nevada, Fuel Stop. It was only a few miles from the Mojave Road trailhead. This Trail/Road was washed-out from the winter storms we had. Challenging for a 2-wheel drive VW Bus :o) At the powerline crossroads, I headed up the old Mohave route to Fort Piute. I explored the area of the 1800s fort. That is an amazing place to visit. So I heard of some ancient 1000-year-old Native Petroglyphs, so I want to adventure out into the desert to find them. Being Rattlesnake season, I processed with caution. They're the coolest thing I've ever seen out in the wild, I viewed hundreds of them. I ended the video with a good salad dinner and a lonely campfire. (I need to get a Dog) :o)
My channel is all about the adventure in a 1950s VW Bus. Camping, Overlanding,
Vintage Gear, and Campsite reviews to historical finds along the way.

Old VW bus...alone...washed out deep rutted backside of Fort Piute. Keep em coming! One of the best memories I have was when my girls and I camped out near Fort Piute. We had Coyotes howling, millions of stars in the sky and a local A.M. station playing Native American tribal songs.

Good times!! Your girls will have that trips memories for ever. 👍 I listened to an Tribal station on the outside of Tucson, Arizona. I really enjoy it also. It was a community in, from people having stuff to sell to people needing help with stuff to move. It was wild. 🙂

You had me at Petroglyphs! I love finding Native American rock art. Have not seen these ones but have spent a good deal of time researching and finding some remote pictograph sites in Anza Borrego the last few years.

I heard that the upper canyon has a lot more, I hope to make it back in the winter when the weather gets cooler, gnats are nasty up there. 👍

LOL, If you don't accidentally beep the horn at least once, you aren't doing it right 🤣 Hey, cool jeep! That's an MB or GPW ('41-'45). A true 1/4 ton, WWII military jeep! You can tell by the lack of manufacturer markings along the hood and under the windshield (though there may be one on the rear of the tub that either says Willys or Ford), the pioneer tool indents and brackets under the drivers door, the 9-slot grill (later civvies went to 7 to accommodate larger headlamps and that has continued on to current), the fuel sump hanging down under the drivers rocker panel, the thin spoked steering wheel, and the full-floating rear axle (note the large center hub)! There are a few non-stock items there... the lockout hubs on the front axle didn't come from the factory, the front wheels are civilian variety from a later model CJ-5 and the rears are civilian CJ-2A or CJ-3A. The rollbar isn't stock either, neither is the front bumper (looks homemade likely in relation to the tow-bar). That backseat is probably worth $300 bucks in that condition! The trailer looks to be an M416, though my knowledge of those isn't the best. Was the jeep a runner or did it look like a "yard-art" style display? Cool find! The petroglyphs are awesome. So wild to think they've just been out there all that time. Before us, before a VW bus was even a concept. I'm sure it gives a huge amount of introspection and perspective! Great, great video! Loved this trail so much!

Beep! Scared the heck out of me. 😊 The Jeep is yard art, I thought of you when I saw it. It must of been donated to the Goffs outdoor museum. Goffs CA Route 66. BTW you know your Jeeps!!! 🤙 I was so happy to find the Native American art. Oh yeah and the desert tortoise. 🐢

Good day, Larry. Thanks again for another cool video! Love the flower blooms, how long do they last? Really liked all the old artifacts rusting in piece in the desert sun. Have a good evening.

Thanks 😊 Guessing it’s all on the cool weather, once it hits high temps it should end the bloom. I was on cloud nine for all the native art. 🏜️

Gotta love that old bus. These machines are so comfortable when they are left unrestored with their honest scars and patina. Is that flip-open front window stock from that era?
