Hello My instrument cluster is resting when i swith off ignition (clock mpg etc) and the rev needle is stuck at 1000 (at idle rev) when taking out the key and slowly resets at zero when I reinsert the key but everything is reseting. Any advice for the issue above? Checked fuses already

Cant I just take a key and a dash cluster and maybe ecu from another car and put it into my car ? then it would work right?

Actually it doesn't even need to be the same transmission! I put a manual 1.8t ecu with the cluster and key into a automatic 1.8t and it started up just fine. Witch was a good thing because I did it for this guy that had a Freind mess up his dash cluster after he fixed his breaks he got the wrong ones so the break light was still flashing so he tryed to RIP out the led light for the breaks and the cluster wouldn't read the key anymore so he paid me to put in a new cluster ecu and key and he forgot to tell me it was an auto transmission, I didnt think it would work but he says it runs great!

Couldn't you just remove a chip from the old cluster and install it onto the new cluster?

My exact thoughts, just desolder eeprom from old and put on new, since that'll contain vin, mileage, etc

or just spend the 20$ for a vcds clone cable and a seperate program to program keys, read ecu flash, read cluster eeprom etc... all these people are scammers with programming when you can spend 20$ to do it yourself

Cluster holds key and immobiliser data Ecu holds immo data which is paired to the cluster without them matching it won't start
