4 or 6mm fillets in in the furrows, fix with eco sealer, then beads of eco on the ridges, while both still wet fit 9mm marine ply floor (obviously cut to suit first).. screw along edges/joins into the ridges only, fill and sand over screws, glue lino down, etc.. 'really' no need for insulation, sound deadening etc as proven.. if it's good enough for new, 65-90k panel vans at one of the largest UK manufacturers where I work, it's good enough for a self build.!

Good tips Liam, neatly treated with hamerite. You could use some Rostoleum for the other rusty parts maybe and when I was done with whole the floor I used some tactyl for the underside by the new holes. Inside the ridges where the air gaps are for you insulation I used this spray on low expanding glue foam in a gun. Its polyurethane but also a glue and it fills the voids and bonds well to the PIR.

Going to be an awesome build Liam, love your videos. I love camping and converted a land rover 110 once. But would love to do a van build. Finding the right layout is difficult though. Have you considered a happyjac bed mechanism? A really good functional bed that can be put away when not in use.

Loving this content mate, it's priceless this step by step journey, it's really appreciated Liam 👏 👍 You can plastic refurbishment agent fir plastics, it's like £2. Winder if that's better than sourcing new trim 🤷♂️ But imagine if you found the same van in a scrapyard and they let you grind out a slatt of the profile of the floor lol that way you could get your profile and knock it into the insulation board to get the exact profile 🤣 probably O.T.T 🤣 loving this though

In the gaps in between insulation and floor I used dodo thermo fleece (recycled plastic) first then lay everything on top of that and that will fill the gaps 👌🏻

The hole-filling method you came up with is commonly used in aerospace and called ‘wet-installing’. Sometimes a flexible sealant is used, sometimes just primer or paint. Either way it’s better than the epoxy… so imho you’re starting off well.

I like your idea for filling the holes with rivets. I can see one issue with your process though, you haven't prepared the vulnerable under side of the van from rust before installing the rivets. I would of prepared both the inside and under side, also use a rust treatment, before installing the rivets. Otherwise great content as usual.
@johndelaney58892 жыл бұрын
The reason for is the rust can travel underneath the paint, on the underside of the van floor.
