Hi Steve, you forgot Number Sixteen: The e-Golf is extremly quiet inside. The engineers did a fantastic job when it comes to NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). My e-Golf is more quiet than my Tesla. Greetings from Germany

The e-Golf is kind of a starter drug for driving electric 😅 I also own one and what should I say... I would never buy a car with combustion engine again. If the e-Golf would have a 50 or 60 kWh battery, it would be really perfect!

i am missing two further points: #1 the noise - well there is almost no noise and #2 the super soft steering. One small finger steering. Both makes this a perfect city car !

All these problems, I either haven’t had them, or haven’t been bothered by them. Except the heating system, which I haven’t quite got the hang of yet. Despite two years of newer cars coming out, my choice of an EV to buy would probably be still be a used second gen eGolf. I hope the ID’s are as good.

@@SteveJulien Hey Steve, would love for you to make another e-golf video. For example here are just 2 things I learned from your videos: 1) I didn't know that there was an extra cubby hole under the tech screen. I was so happy to learn that from your u-tube! 2) I had to google how to put the back windshield wiper on - I just couldn't figure that one out on my own... I know this is probably a 'should know' item and most likely why you didn't include that bit 3) Question: To pre-heat the car and NOT use battery I'm assuming the car needs to be plugged in, right? Thus the power is drawn from the house? That's all I can think of for now but please consider one more e-Golf video for us slow learners. Keeping in mind this is just day 5 of my ownership! Thanks!

I do appreciate this video. I was looking at an id3 but 30000€ after taxes and a 9 month waiting list I was looking at an egolf at the same dealership. 22000€ 8000km and has the heat pump and virtual cockpit. Your videos are helping me like this car a lot more. I don’t have range anxiety because where I live in Germany charging ports and electric cars are in abundance so I think I’ll get the egolf.

You're right about BMWs, people assume you want to race or something, which is funny because I drive my 530e almost exclusively on electricity around town, which gets maybe 9 seconds 0-60.

I do wish there was a driving mode you could set yourself and that it stuck in. I quite like the sedate nature of eco and eco + occasionally but I'd like that setting but with full HVAC.

another great video steve, i didn't know about the putting straight into reverse without using the break first, one thing that i don't like/prefer to my 1 series in regards to the active cruise control is, on the vw it shows you when a cars detected and then the notification disappears. on my old 1 series once it detects a car it illuminates a car on the dash to show this and stays there until the car has either changed lanes or out of range

Just know that in the US, where 3G has been discontinued, you know longer get the remote features like pre-conditioning the interior or defrosting.

Another cool feature which is worth mentioned is that the e-Golf self activates regen if it approaches roundabouts, junctions, cities with speed limits. Even if you are in D, which means no regen, the e-Golf uses navigation data to change the regen depending on your current location. But I'm not quite sure if that is the case for the "basic" model. We don't have that one in Germany. it's only sold here with the Discover Pro with a larger screen.

Hi thanks for your video, I am considering buying a used e golf as my first ev. My driving needs are a bit unusual in that I drive about 10 miles into work on a Monday and don't drive the car back home till Saturday. Does the charge level on the e golf drop if it's not used for a few days or a week? Thanks for making very informative content. Mike T.

Hi Mike. Glad it helped. You might loose a couple of miles with the car just parked but it will be negligible. 👍🏽

The 2015 will probably be the 24kWh battery. Unless your journeys are mostly very short, id try and get the larger one.

Hi EV Steve can you just fast charge the e golf all the time if you are somebody in an apartment that isn't allowed put in a home charger? Tnx
@SteveJulien4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dazza, Hope you’re well. Yes, you can just rapid (DC) charge all the time but it’s not the best for the battery health long term. Ideally, you would want to mix it up with slow/fast (AC) charging as well. Many places offer 7kw fast charging for free such a work places, shopping centres and work car parks etc that will add around 25 miles of range an hour whilst you work, shop etc. I would say you’d ideally want to be charging there as much as possible if it’s easy to, to balance the DC charging. Have a look at Plug Life Television at Dr Euan McTurks videos. He’s a battery scientist and has lots of videos on maintaining good battery health.
