Do you know if MIB1 mmi connector can just be swapped out like this to usb and 3.5 jack panel, or does the harness have to be changed also?

@@stevebailey487 Remove the head unit, trims, and system unit in the glove compartment. I used a claw pickup tool to follow the cables from the glove compartment (top area) to the open space where the head unit resides. There is a hole that the wires go through. I grabbed the USB harness and pulled it back around to the glove box area. I also used a small ring light to observe the cables. It is tricky, but after a few tries, I managed to get it right.

Yes, you absolutely must or you will not get the drawer out. I just fixed mine 3 days ago and it's super crucial

Is it possible to change (to swap) manual air condition control unit to Climatronic control unit? I understand that auto button and individual temperature control won't work (because no sensors), but will the sync button change the temperature for both sides? Will the rest buttons work properly? Same in my 7.5, I've replaced cables and phones and it's always the same. Did you resolve it?
