Good job. Save the Rabbits. I think paint sticks better if it's brushed on. It doesn't look as smooth but on the underside it doesn't matter. I've been saving one. Used floorpans and stuff saved from another car and it rotted again in 10 years so now I'm replacing rusted metal with stainless pieces.

I only got the chance to watch this now, and the build is coming along nicely. I hope this winter is a great winter to get it finished.

It's definitely looking less crusty! Nice work on the welding. That has to be a bit unnerving to start welding when you haven't really done it before. Kudos on starting a new skill! You've inspired me to get back to my mk1 and start getting the old girl running again. The injection pump and injectors are currently getting a rebuild. I might even post some of that crap on youtube. Good luck on the rest of the restoration!
@upcyclethepastutp99012 жыл бұрын
Thank you mate ! After all of this time working on the car i learned that you need to do everyrthing yourself if you want the project to turn out as you wish... So i bought a decent mig welder which works with a co2 fire extinguisher tube because it works and i had a couple of them for free. I found out that welding and shaping metal is not that hard, it only requiers some basic skills and know-how. During the winter i will also rebuild the injectors and the pump, we might share the same struggle haha ! Take care and good luck !

@@upcyclethepastutp9901 I will also team up with you guys haha.. the injectors are OK, but the pump was sitting for 9 years so it needs some attention I assume.

Thanks mate, i think it will take another 1.5 years to finish the car, when you do it bolt by bolt it takes a lot of time :(

nice one mate!😉👍. that tilting device is epic👍. btw I was also working on the wheel wells of my mk1 yesterday. All that rubberized gunk was a nightmare to remove.. and another nightmare was the rust at the bottom of the strut tower.. ehh.. I need to remove (drill/cut) both strut towers working inside the engine bay and then repair the wing underneath.. and then build them back on solid metal.. ☹️
@upcyclethepastutp99012 жыл бұрын
My strut towers were crusty but not completly gone, good wire cleaning and some rust inhibitor made wonders, i had to patch only that little place in the video, on the other side it looks a bit worse, there i will have to do some more welding... Lets hope for the best!
