very useful have had the coolant issues you describe and unfortunately too late to run away... have replaced pump + valves (n488) on gearbox along with engine coolant valve very expensive

Is there any diagnosis for the coolant becoming darker? I’ve replaced coolant multiple times, and the color continues to shift to a darker hue over time. Every shop that’s inspected my GTI says it’s nothing to worry about unless there is oil/condensation in the coolant. I’m wondering if this is an issue or not?

This is completely normal! Coolant is a perishable item. Over time the electrons in the coolant level sensor probes, chemically change the color due to electrolysis. You will start to notice the color turn orange. The only time you should be concerned is if you see the coolant level dropping significantly.
