Well done VW, since the mid 90s your oil filters have been serviceable easily from above. Now it goes horizontal and hidden. Great work.

Thanks for the video, I haven't changed the plug o ring as I didn't open the plug, just the oil filter housing. Want to see how the small o ring is being changed and you showed me thanks.

The Castrol Magnatec 5w30 C3 oil you used initially was low SAPS, hence the C3 designation on the front of the can. I doubt you will have done any engine or DPF damage using this oil. All you have done is upgraded to Castrol's best engine oil. Hopefully you have got some more mpg using Edge. I personally use Fuchs SuperSyn or Mannol oil in my VWs.
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment mate, it’s good to know that the C3 oil is also a low saps oil. I can’t say I notice much of a difference using edge oil over the C3 but I’m sure the edge is much better for this engine 👍🏼 I will have to check out the mannol equivalent as I’ve heard it’s great quality oil for a good price.

Thanks a lot. Great content. Your opinion please - would you recommend buying this 2016 Volkswagen Golf 2.0TDI Comfortline with 203 000 km plus full VW service history? (South Africa)

the best oil is a frequent oil change. i buy mannol 20l drums works out €5 a litre and change oil and filter every 7500km and full service again at 15000km when the cars asks for one. you cant go wrong. better than changing castrol or expensive brands of oil at 15000km

Great job ! So, the torques are: - Oil Filter Housing Torque: 32 mm -> 25+5Nm = 30Nm 13 mm -> 5+2Nm = 7Nm - Oil pan drain plug Torque: 19 mm -> 30Nm These are the values? Thank you in advance :)

Might be cheaper in the long run to buy a 20 litre lube cube from a Fuchs agent. GT1 Pro C3 is a 507.00 spec oil and used to be factory fill. I think I paid £85 last time but no idea what the cost is now due to oil prices rising. The longlife service regime was a thing to keep costs down for fleet vehicles, ignore it, 10k change as an absolute maximum, 6k if short journeys. As far as oil specs go stick to the VW code, there is more to the chemistry than you'd think. Older PD TDi's had to use 505.01 or 506.00 (or later 507.00 also works), anything but those and it was a gamble on whether the camshaft would wear out due to the oil not being up to the job even though it was the correct viscosity.

That’s good to know thanks for the recommendation 👍🏼 I stick to the 10k change using long life Castrol edge but would be good to get a bulk buy to save some money. I’ve heard that Mannol oils are pretty good too and cheap.

Very informative tutorial Thanks Please answer if you can about TIME BELT change interval for VW Golf MK7 !
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you found it useful 😁 I couldn’t find the service interval in the manual and online the figures range from 60k - 140k miles or 4 - 5 years whichever comes first. Personally I go for the 60k or 4 years to be safe 👍🏼 hope this helps.

180k km or 6 years.But it is better to change at 120k km or 5 years

What has the oil got to do with dpf, it’s oil not fuel and it should stay within the engine shouldn’t get to the dpf.
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I think it’s more to do with engines that burn a small amount of oil.
@pajdorian6669 Жыл бұрын
Every single engine burns small amount of oil. And even that small amount can have significant impact on the DPF.
@dopiaza20064 ай бұрын
Oil gets into the intake via the crankcase ventilation system, and also some through turbo seals. It doesn't take much to reduce the efficiency of the DPF.
