Today I'm back with the boiler system in the VW Grand California and I'm actually going to show you what the boiler looks like and how it works so that you have a better understanding of what's happening when you're using the heating system in the Grand Cali.
It helps to explain what some of the vents are for around your Grand California and also what they're doing.
While I wouldn't recommend doing any maintenance yourself, I'll show you two handy tips regarding the boiler as well.
Let me know what you think about this type of content in the comments.
Thanks for watching! California Chris.

Chris your videos are so interesting and informative. You clearly have a passion for your product and I hope Volkswagen appreciate what an asset you are to them. Other manufactures and converters could learn a lot from you. Keep up the great work.

HI Chris thanks for your always detailed info about the Grand California. I'm evaluating the Grand California 600 and I have one main question energy/battery largest expansion possibilities (lithium etc.) in addition to the solar panel and the battery that come with the GC600 (and I didn't find info about it) to have the largest amount of time in full autonomy. It's really an important point to me to evaluate the purchase of GC600. Many Thankls again

God I’m glad the German manufacturer of my touring caravan trusts their customers enough that we’re allowed to reset our own cut outs (think there might be a fuse in that top panel too) rather than expecting us to have our dealership try to sort it out, these must be very different products to your technicians usual stuff, have they had to do the Truma training??? Hope there’s no sudden water leaks what with a bazillion torx screw to get through! Anyway, I’ve had one of these for over 4 years, also with the additional electric element, pleased to say it’s very reliable and the cut out has thankfully never operated. Only downside is the seat box ours is in collects massive amounts of fluff, presumably because of the heat causing air flow currents. I noticed a dark mark on the underside of the plywood base, couldn’t quite tell whether it was just a knot or more worrying a singe mark... nice video, great to see your enthusiasm for the topic :)

Dear Chris,, Thank you very much for all your tips and advice. We are awaiting delivery of a Grand California 680 4motion and hoping to go on a ski trip this winter. It is compulsory to have winter tyres with the 3 peak symbol to drive in Austria and Germany but the GC comes with summer tyres. We are struggling to find any C rated van tyres for winter use in the correct size in the UK. What would you recommend? Many thanks, Charmaine

Is there any way to have the boiler run off of the alternator? We use our 600 a lot but are generally always on the go. It would be nice to have hot water right when we stop instead of having to wait 20 or 30 minutes. On my previous T5 converted, the hot water boiler was connected to the alternator and it was very nice to have hot water on the go.
