I initially came to the channel to watch the technical content and Andrew's impressions (vehicle). To my shock and amazement a sudden and intense wave (I think they call it a Flaviana) engulfs the channel resulting in chuckles, laughs, accent impressions, and a different EV insight/perspective. All welcome... All good... 😲😲 Andrew.... Flaviana is 100% correct that interspersing regular life stories, moments, and funny bits does not distract from the focus of the channel but provides a needed balance. Andrew's Decision: Do I want a Technical EV channel or a Lifestyle EV Channel? I vote Lifestyle (I.e. how is the EV to live with, etc.). The trip to London provided needed insights interspersed with what you have been doing since your last post. Fact: I enjoyed your daughter's perspective on 'bad words' and enjoyed her contributions to the video. As they say... 'It takes a village'.

Loved it, weird, mad, crazy...true but great fun. I imagine it takes more work than simply keeping it separated, but the footage of the trip interspersed with cuts back to you in the driveway, when it was relevant to your conversation, worked really well I thought. Instead of a long bit with facts and a long bit with impressions, mixing the two by cutting back and forth made it easier to keep my attention. The family reviews are half the reason I watch - the they're a lot more fun than just another car review. Great video

Owning an ID.3 for 2years now, I fully subscribe to this review. It is roomy, comfortable, reliable. Even the software worked in my car without major issues. In the first months some warning lights came on, but went off after the next restart. Some service updates took care of that. The car is not very exciting, but it’s versatile. It works well in the city and on long trips. I love the turning circle and the seating position. I am sorry for the VW engineers though. It is so obvious that for the materials, touch buttons, etc. the accountants dominated the design decision. Still love the car.

This video was very persuasive in our finally choosing an ID.3 which we bought used on 3rd March 2023. My partner who is the driver (I am registered blind) seems to be very happy with the car. It is easily the best car that we have ever owned by a very very long way. The touch sensitive buttons are something that you get used to as an owner in a very short time just as it takes a short time to get used to the controls on any car new to them. We'll keep this car for a very long time.

tbh I find it unfair to reduce the entertaining factor of this channel to Flaviana. For me it really is the back and forth between your calm struggle to present a serious car test and her italien tech-defying temperament. One without the other wouldn´t work nearly as great. Keep it up and thank you for the great content. Even though I bought a Skoda Enyaq in the meantime (Deciding against Ioniq 5 and the eniro actually) hence most of the cars reviewed aren´t even that interesting to me anymore xD. The thing is, Flaviana, us car geeks can nerd out on all the fun facts but its nice to get the real user view, which means you telling it like you see it. Perhaps being Italian allows you to be straight to the point without dressing it up. As for your accents Andrew, I'd say that Scottish one was pretty fair. For trying to get into Welsh I like to imagine Rob Brydon. But yes, did make the video a bit more interesting. (I see Aurelia is taking after her mother. :-)) "I dont like it when you talk about cars" - cracked me up)

Man just to think that I thought it was expensive when it came out. Checked out VW's prices today. The 58kWh base version is 45.000€. The bigger 77kWh battery is only available at the top version at 57.000€. Even if it was cheaper to run compared to CNG/LPG (which its just barely is), you'd never recoupt the extra cost to buy it in the lifetime of the vehicle. The Polo 1.0 TSI CNG is 25.000€ and the Golf 1.5 TSI CNG is 33.000€. I guess it depends on the country, the local fuel prices etc.

looks like the software hasn't been updated at all from the original 1st edition s/w with the "Home" button on the left hand side for a RHD car. Would be worthwhile getting at least the 2.4 software upgrade for the functional improvements. I've 60,000km done in my ID.3 1st edition and it's great.

I think your daughter is very much like her mum, "I have something to say" - "I don't like it when you talk about cars". What a great trip video with an honest review of the ID3 which from the looks of the navigation system is suffering the same software issues as its larger sibling the ID4, which unfortunately is the only model they sell in the US. On a smallish island like Oahu the ID3 would be much better suited.

Thanks Andrew, hilarious as always. Decided on one of these after test driving about 8 EV's recently. Just seems to tick lots of boxes, the style, size, driving style, range,price,etc. Going to get a used for £15k hope to pick it up this week. First foray into electric cars, if it pays off probably go salary sacrifice lease. I do feel for you though because I spent hours looking at a Kia Niro (old shape) including your own videos and checking specs,etc. Showed my wife (whos half italian and very opinionated) and she said I dont like it, then i showed her another colour and she said ah that looks ok (its just another car!) . So then went to test drive it and she said no the interior looks dated and the rear camera is shit , that was the end of that. I just slowly hit my head against the drivers door window at the hours wasted. But she liked the ID.3, hooray! Cheers

Hi Andrew, quick question re driving in Europe. We are headed to Tuscany in April in our Ioniq5. Just wondering what is the best option re use of chargers? We have Electroverse with Octopus but have had liitle success with it in the UK. Is there an option which works well even if you have to have a subscription fee? Any advise you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work. Noel

Electroverse should work pretty much everywhere in Europe. Which networks have you tried it on in the UK? It doesn't work with Gridserve or BP but most others should be fine. Another option would be Elli which you can subscribe to (and you get cheaper IONITY charging if you do), but the number of networks it works with isn't any more than Electroverse as far as I know. Another RFID card you could get (with no subscription) is Shell Recharge which tends to work in loads of places.

Good stuff that you managed to try the ID3. My opinion is that it does portrait classical VW cars pretty well : Not great nor really bad at anything but practical and quite efficient. I remember having been amazed by its turning circle at the time. But I now prefer the Megane due to the much better software and look.

It took me 1 year to find out about the start stop button. So, you dont need it at all. Just hit the brake to switch on and press Park and leave the car to switch off.

We've just got rid of ours it was nice to drive, but the software was very glitchy. We decide to change because of the idiotic prices at the time which meant we made a packet of money on the id3 and reduced our payments on a new MG4 - we'll see how glitchy the MG4 is now...
