@starsundsternchen802

The best is to charge the car after the trip to the same percentage you started the trip with. And additionally you should take the product of the total trip time (including recharging) and the total energy needed for the trip. In this way you have an absolute standardized test procedure and you are independent of cars in the future that can cover the whole trip completely without charging!!

Thanks for a nice review Kris. I am in the marked for a new car. Coming from the E tron 55 and lately Polestar 2, I have been aiming for Polestar 4. Tested it and was slightly disappointed. Polestar 2 I love, Polestar 4 felt to me more like a Zeekr/Geely Polestar edition. Missing some of the great Volvo heritage in that car. However, seeing your videos on Id7 makes me want to try it, although I am not a massive VW fan. For yourself or a family of 3, would you do the GTX coupe or GTX tourer? Br. Tore

Hi Kris, Thanks for the insight. I am currently on a Tesla MY which runs out next year and I initially wanted to get myself the MY Juniper. However, I am now done with Elon Musk and consequently Tesla. I started looking at alternatives and came across the the ID 7 Tourer which I find really impressing and I am determined to get myself one. The really difficult decision for me, however, is between the tourer pro s and the gtx. In terms of WLTP this means 690km vs 590. This is potentially a big difference and it would interest me what this means in practice. So does the GTX provide so much more added value that is justifies the reduced range? What are your thoughts on that?

Fantastic car. Finally a station wagon. Of course, I hope other brands follow the same path, tired of all the SUVs. If it is supposed to be a right vision, you should probably calculate the charging time so that all cars end up at the same percentage, like 5 percent maybe.

Hi Kris, My Google-Norwegian is very bad but that pile was saying something like “limitation due to sharing” every time you showed a lower speed. And at 170kW it also said “limitation due to charging station”. Only at the beginning of the charging when the car was ramping up it showed the symbol “limitation due to the car”. I mean that blue icon on the right of the display”. Can’t say anything, because I wasn’t there, but that car pulls 500A for a while, and those Kempower units have no cooled cables, which means they might struggle to deliver as much power as long as the car needs. 🤷‍♂️ Having said that, I think the time achieved was incredible, but for a record time you will need the RWD version with the std. 19” wheels and not those open wheels. 👍 BTW, looking forward to see how the PPE cars(Q6, A6 Avant) with only RWD perform.👍👍
@KrisRifa
@KrisRifa Ай бұрын
It said "shared power", but the station can output at least 600kW, so at most there was me and a Model Y charging. So at no point where we close to the station limitation. It also said "limited by the car", which is why I think there was thermal throttling because of the car. These newer Kempower stations which are rated at 200/400kW have water cooled cable and can deliver 500A no problem. It's only the old stations that are limited to 125kW.

17:20 "Maks effect på läder" means maximum speed of charger, and then you claim thermal throttle and there is text "delt effect" which means shared charging so other car was limiting speed not heat. So most likely this charging station max 600 kW comes from 3 x 200 kW
@KrisRifa
@KrisRifa Ай бұрын
@@mr.wizeguy8995 "maks effect på lader" Max power of the charger is 200kW for 400V batteries, or in this case looks like 204kW. That message indicates that we are at peak power delivery, which is fine since the car peaks at that speed anyways. That does not explain why the speed dropped to 111kW. "delt effekt" This message came up when another car started charging at the station. As you see on the video I am the only car charging, and at most another Model Y was charging at the station. This message indicates that max power is being split between two cars, but since the station most likely at least can deliver 600kW. This message won't affect the peak the car can get of 200kW. A Model Y can peaks below 200kW at non Tesla Superchargers. I was also getting 200kW+ when that Tesla was charging in the background, so obviously that was not a limiting factor. "kjøretøybegrensinger" Vehicle limitations is the message I saw (and also shown later) when the speed dropped to 111kW. At this point in time I was THE ONLY car at this charging station. This is why I believe this was thermal throttling. Another indication that the battery may have been hot when connected is the fact that there was not need to manually precondition the battery prior to charging, as shown in the minutes before I connected.

I mean how much does gas cost? Or how much does it cost to buy a house? It depends on where you live. Since I live in Norway and my viewers are from all over the world, there is no one shoe that fits all. But what I can say is that we used approx 110kWh to complete this test. Charging all of that energy at Ionity would have cost 330nok or about 27,5€. If i charged to 100% at home, and the rest on the road it would have cost around 160nok or 13€. Either way, it is super cheap. But your milage may vary depending on where you live.

My thoughts when watching this test is that in a 600k trip it is recommended to take at least one if not two breaks. Eleven minutes wouldn't give you much of a break. If you plugged the vehicle in, went and got a snack and a toilet break you would have used up more than 11 minutes. When younger I thought nothing of driving 800k or more with only a fuel break. Today never. For most people on holidays driving this vehicle would not increase the travel time over a ICE if they charged over a meal break and over night charging at the hotel.

In what world is this "about the same prize as the Tesla Model Y"? If you spec out a ID7 to have the same equipment as a Model Y you need the Interior pack + and towing hook. Then it is 660 401 NOK compared to a Model Y (Including winter wheels) that is 505 838 kroner. Thats almost 160 000 NOK difference, that's not "about the same". The only extra stuff you get then compared to the tesla is ventilated seats, messaging seats and trunk net. But you get heated steering wheel in the Tesla, which you have to pay an extra 21k for in the ID7. Even without the interior pack it is still 90 000 more than the Tesla, with less equipment. I am not saying this to be mean, I just think that you lose a lot of credibility with statements like that. I feel like i am listening to a Volkswagen salesman. And i believe you don't want to be perceived that way. This is coming from a guy who really don't want to buy the Model Y and desperately try to find a better solution, but to that prize its damn hard to find a better solution for a family car.
