Great video man! Thanks for showing how to press in the hub/bearing in the most very simple and effective way. Others videos skip this critical part.

Yup. I used a grinder to make a score into the inner race. Then I smacked it with a hammer and chisel. Because if the hardness of the race, they are prone to fracturing. Once a crack goes through it, it slides off fairly easy.

Is 6 inch gear puller big enough ?

I believe I used a 6inch puller.

yeah man im having the same issue with my driver side rear wheel, the wheel isnt warped or bent but it appears as so as i roll slowly the wheel kind of wobbles. but i know the tires are balanced, maybe im not hearing them whine cuz of my loud exhaust.
@johnmoser2689 Жыл бұрын
You can also take a grinder and cut a slice in the old race to free it up... just don't go too deep...a little scuff isn't a big deal though

Anyone know if a newly-fitted hub/bearing is likely to slide off without leaving the inner race behind? Just fitted a new hub and managed to refit the dust shield behind the stub axle rather than in front of it. If I can just pull the bearing off again I will but if it's going to destroy the bearing I'll leave it be. One of those annoying situations where I simply won't know until I try.
@hyr0llr3 жыл бұрын
i would assume the race would seperate from the bearing assembly. and if you are able to use prybars and slide it off, there is a chance you can put the race back in the assembly. No guarantee though
@edwardchester13 жыл бұрын
@@hyr0llr If that's the case I wouldn't risk refitting it. Once that seal's broken, the bearing will have a significantly reduced lifespan. Might as well just replace at that point.

@@edwardchester1 ye man better safe then sorry. i was just speaking hypothetically.
@hyr0llr3 жыл бұрын
@@edwardchester1 also if you could get behind the inner race and pry the whole assemby off, then you wouldnt have the seperation problem.
@edwardchester13 жыл бұрын
@@hyr0llr Yeah, true. Might have a look tomorrow. See if there's enough play to loosen it and get something in behind the race.

can the 30mm 12 point socket, not do the job of the 32mm socket to drive the hub in?
@hyr0llr4 жыл бұрын
you would risk rounding the edges.

why couldn't you remove the inner race using the 3 jaw puller?
@andycapped1004 жыл бұрын
I tried that myself and found it impossible to get a decent grip on the shallow outer lip without the puller sliding off. I gave up and cut mine using an air cut off tool and a slittimg disc, taking extra caution not to damage the shaft. Hope this helps.
@hyr0llr4 жыл бұрын
You could use the 3 jaw puller once you create a gap with those half circle bearing tool
