Hi great Video, but it would be even greater if you make video on how you takeaprat the headlight from its original place.

We are on the technical side of the xenon repairs and only dealing with the xenon parts. All other mechanical stuff are left to mechanics. Unfortunately for this model, removal of the bumper is absolute must (working with a loose bumper just will lead to a bottom headlight leg damage, hence a condensation issue). There are three fixing tabs to be released in order to remove the headlight: two screws at the top (first tab), one at the inner side where the headlight meets the grill (second tab), and one at the very bottom (due to this bottom lug, you will not be able to remove the headlight from the car without removing the bumper, or under covers). Absolute torture to replace a simple bulb or ballast/module due to bumber being bulky. But in any case, we always recommand total removal of the headlight from the car in case of ballast/module failure to identify the condensation/moisture source. Otherwise any replacement ballast/module will burn again shortly. Thanks for your interest in our video.

I have dissassembled these B6 bixenon headlights many times, including changing the projector itself from the front of the housing by replacing the lense also. I would say im experienced with this peticular headlight.. Even still im facing an interesting issue right now... My car, 2007 passat highline with the bixenon is blowing the headlight adjustment fuse (10A) resaulting in AFS fault. The issue is fixed by unplugging the headlight temporarily and replacing fuse, until I drive the car on slippery roads and the traction control activates. I can drive long periods without AFS fault and the adjusting and other functions work 100%, also VCDS gives no errors and output test resaults in 100% function. Its only when the traction control activates when the car enters a sideways slip, the fuse blows, and if i replace the fuse without unplugging the headlight it blows again. I have dissassembled the ballast, control module and inspected fittings and wiring on the headlight and no issues visible. I am completely baffeled and I find this fault interesting and even funny. I will switch the control modules from R to L and vice versa to see if the suspected faulty control module blows the fuse on the "wrong" side. I have tested modules on the "wrong sides" no faults, only actuation is reversed, light turns L when commanded to turn R etc. If this doesnt confirm the module issue, I will use a jumper to get power to the headlight pin in question ( I figured the the fuse to supply the pin on the connector, but cant remember the number) and see if the issue is in the wiring loom. next I will change the actuator servos from R to L and vice versa to see if the other side fuse blows after that. Im interested to hear If you have any ideas why the traction control would cause the headlight to burn a fuse :D And to be clear, I can accelerate with the traction light flashing, its only when the TC applies brake to a corner in a slide when the fuse goes. I dont want to order a module before these diagnostic steps as the module is over 200 euros where I live.

Hi great video. I have bought a spare set of headlights from a 07 passat. These have gen 1 afs. I would like to upgrade the projectors and then swap the headlights into my 2009 r36 passat. Is this possible because because 2007 Passat has gen1 AFS, where 2009 passat has GEN2 AFS. do you know the differencec between gen1 and gen2 afs?

Thanks for a great video! I get the ASF inoperative error in my 2006 Passat. When checking I see that the error code is 02629 Left swivel module position sensor. However when I start the lights the left one does the up down side to side etc and the right one seems stuck (It goes a bit up and down. So the error code is on the working one. Do I need to change both? Or maybe only the motor in the right one...?

@@xenonland The 02629 code is the only one coming from my reader. At least in the "Xenon range" category. My reader is a basic one where you have to look up faults in the respective categories... Hi, Im having an erratic low beam blink and AFS error. When it started to fail, occurred when braking or hitting a well, as if it were a false contact. The xenon bulb turns off and the afs error appear. Then I turn off and turn on again the lights and it works again. I remember once I change the xenon module (that is down of the headlight) with chinese replacement part....

Hello XenonManiac, I have a problem with the AFS on my VW Passat B7. The computer shows that there is no power from the left main headlight. The low beam works normally, but the high beam and the automatic high beam do not work. But when I turn it on, the blue high beam indicator light on the display comes on. The AFS control unit is installed under the plastic housing of the headlight and is very difficult to access to repair or replace. Do you have an idea or could publish a video about it. Or you can't replace it at all and have to replace the entire main headlight, which is very expensive. Thank you for your reply. Greetings from Austria. 😊
@xenonland Жыл бұрын
Probably, the high beam mechanism is powered via the afs module as it is the case with B6 headlights. If the bixenon mechanism itself is not faulty, then your afs module is. Especially if you noticed condensation at your headlight, most probably the afs module is defective. Unfortunately you should take the headlight from the car to inspect properly (removing bumper etc...) and to replace the module. No need to change the entire headlight, just the afs module if the module is defective. If the bixenon shutter turns out to be faulty, then you should go for a new headlight

i have a 2007 passat While driving at night, afs malfunction occurs and this causes the left headlight to turn off. When I turn the headlights on and off using the headlight switch, the headlights return to normal. Is it possible to replace the AFS sensor without removing the bumper?

Better remove the bumper, otherwise risking to break the headlight tabs.

While i drive it looks like it's lighting too close to me and while i am turning i can't notice they are moving into the corner. When i start the car the lamps are moving and doing the reference run. Ballast is only for the low and high beam. If the low beam works and you have AFS fault only at the dash, more probably your AFS module is faulty,

Is there a way to troubleshoot the afs module, would it look/smell burned? Thanks
@xenonland3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately since it does not generate voltage it would not smell burnt. If you see any oxidation on the electronic circuit (on the small bits/their legs), 99% burnt. Since it is sided, you can not swap it with the other side headlight. Only way (if no visible water/moisture damage) is to use diagnostic scanner or to find other Tuareg with same headlights.

@xenonland3 жыл бұрын
AFS function in mainly related to the AFS module and horizontal headlight motor. In your case it looks like that the AFS module is for replacement since headlight motor is a mechanical part which either works or not. If you have a condensation in your headlight, more likely this module is burnt (or check if it is the original Valeo module GENUINE/Original part and is 7L6941330, if you have a different number or China replica again afs will (not) work erratic).
