VW Passat B7 Blinking Spanner Wrench Issue

Blinking Wrench / Spanner / Spanar / Spannar on 2011 Passat B7
Symptom
- Blinking Wrench / Spanner
- Goes away every time car shut off but come back again after 10 minutes of driving
- For my case the case is still drivable without any weird feeling or gear change
- Some case car is stuck at a certain gear and not able to drive
Possible Problem
- Most common is the Mechatronic unit
- Gearbox internal got issues
- Extremely worn out clutch
Cost of repair
- For my case is the Mechatronic unit on its way out. Change a recond unit for arounf RM3500 including labout here in Malaysia
Conclusion
- Delimma. In my case the car seems to be working fine. But not sure for how long. Is your choice to risk or to get it fix immediately.

My car has the same problem and is not drivable. It is stucked at D2. This is for the second time. The first time mechatronic was repaired.

Yes boss. In some cases the car is still drive able. But in most cases its not. Most probably is the Mechatronic unit again.

2013 Passat 120k. I thought it was the mechatronic but turned out that selector rail bearing was gone.

Maybe the car detected something is wrong. Better get it scanned by a reputable workshop. If you have the budget can get it fix. Or if no money can use until car breakdown and cannot move only fix.

I had similar problem to my 7 speed dsg, driving fine but after 56 km started check engine light, starting freezing, cann not accelerate sometimes, stopping in 123456 speed, only when it gets to 7th speed was again driving nice, today i will go to mechanic with it

Had to mention that i drove 200 km with that problem and i had to use hazard light whenever i had to increase speed so i can pull the car out of the road select neutral and than drive again. Hope i didn't made more damage to the gear box
