Can see why Polo scored 5 stars. Mine got rear ended, with me stationary; drive of a white van was doing up to 60mph (roads legal speed) and I walked away with a bruised toe and strained neck

There is nothing to moan about as it is the only car you ever need in the world. Spacious, reliable, economical and can be fast. If you think it is "boring" or "bland" then you most likely have a very biased view point because you are butt hurt, you may have never driven one or you are just an idiot. No car is boring, it depends on how simple the driver is.

I have this car, why would you not review it as a GT? There are no UK reviews of the blueGT. The main reason I bought it was because I wanted something that had the potential to be economical and sporty. Travelling between 60-70 mph on a run it's easy to achieve 50+ mpg. The ACT engine is great. The VW is a much classier car than the fiesta and a nicer place to be.

Neil Jones ours had a very annoying noise and went in around 10 times before the delear found the issue they then scratched it when they gave it back so not a good experience the fiesta has only had services but the polo is the better car the were both bought at the same time in 2014 the facelift polo

Honda Jazz has more passenger compartment space, but I think Honda must have put a 1.5 litre motorbike engine and gearbox in my one , coz it has to be rev-ed to MOVE ! ( and its a bit noisy when I do that )

Never know the type of people who bother with the GT...if you want a quick Polo the 1.8t GTI is under a grand less in price and if you wanted a quick hot hatch for the price the Fiesta ST Mountune is a far better buy

Katherine Skelton I drive the Ibiza Fr with the same engine and chassis and believe me these things are very sporty but I kind of see what you mean, basically this is the top of the range Polo for people who have money but want a small car but also don't want a full on dedicated sports hatch?

+S Miller Basically - for the UK VW drop their usual trim designations - trendline - highland etc and add the confusing GT which to UK Buyers suggests a warm hatch, it's not really, They can be sporty and they have some sporty touches about. I've driven a Polo and a Fabia (Currently drive a Golf GTD). I think you make an interesting point about the GTI - it's expensive and the top of the Polo range seems confused, you can get 5k discounts on GTI's and GT's but I think for an outright hot hatch, the Fiesta ST wins. I will say about the Polo, it does feel like a quality product and you can get some big car tech in it.

Katherine Skelton How is this not a warm hatch? My car which is the same is as quick as a Golf GTD (tried and tested), they are underrated in performance terms to prevent people comparing the GTI and the GT. It is definitely a warm hatch, it's quicker than a Suzuki Swift Sport by a large margin and the SSS is universally known as a warm hatch. I know the Ibiza FR might be differently set up and maybe it is a bit more interesting to drive than the GT but I doubt it
