At 7:00 I had this EXACT issue when installing a race clutch in my Audi A3 8P quattro, what I did was just use some electrical tape on the end of the plastic tool to build up the thickness so that it fit snug in the hole. This was only after realising the issue since I had been trying to install the transmission for hours when the clutch was never aligned properly, as soon as I fixed it with that tape it aligned perfect and she's been perfect for >10k kms. An alternative for anyone that encounters the same issue. As always, I enjoyed the video! 👍

Great tip on using the marker dabs as references marks for the 90 degree final torquing on those bolts. I was replacing a cylinder head gasket on my mk1 following the tightening sequence, and I'll be honest, there was a time or two when in my tired dehydrated state that I unsure of the next sequence. Those marks would've given me much needed piece of mind. Gonna get me a paint marker next time! 👍 BTW - that clutch is awesome! The amount of surface area is most impressive. Charles I've sent you a Facebook message regarding my golf r7 dsg. When launching or engaging reverse the car creeps forward or back but accelerator pedal doesn't respond for 4 seconds. Then it suddenly revs up and all is fine.. or launches. Any thoughts what to look at before ripping mechatronics out lol ? No other dsg issues at all and no codes . However on live data the 2 front abs speed sensors say error on air gap. The rear two however read 7mm... not sure if this could cause these issues. The reverse is sometimes fine . If i stop totally and wait a few seconds before lifting break . But with launch control its 100% of the time... No vw seems to have a clue... no mechanic seems to want to give pointers. They all say oh we can't say without ripping the box out...

@@HumbleMechanic okay, looking forward to it. If you do decide to go with dsg again, I’ll tell you how to install the trans from b8.5 which is still a lot cheaper than b8 dsgs. The install is the same as b8, but the immobilizer data in the trans will need to be updated by 3rd party service, afaik Audi’s GeKo doesn’t allow to adapt the b8.5 trans to b8 chassis. Otherwise it all fits 100%

I have a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T fsi turbo. It wouldn’t start so I replaced the high pressure fuel pump and the in tank fuel pump. I eventually got it to start. It starts right up and idles fine, but when you give it gas it’s all choppy and not the correct rpm it should be at. I have a engine code, it’s P2294, so that means that there’s a problem with my fuel pressure regulator attached to my high pressure fuel pump, but the regulator is brand new so I don’t know what to do

Hey Charles/ or anyone, really in need of a good opinion here 😕. Bought a 2010 vw scirocco (I know you guys don’t really have this car on the states but it’s has the famous 2.0 l TSI engine) and the car Is showing a few problems.. mainly the following: - When on idle you can feel a slight vibration / burp / jerk coming from the engine, rpm stay steady and I’ve checked channels 15/16 for misfires with OBDeleven and there is none at the time these vibrations happen. This is just annoying because you can clearly feel it when stoped but the engine doesn’t seem affected by it - it only has the code p0420, after one of the injectors got stuck open and replaced. - it has a misfire every now and then (very rarely) on cylinders 2, 3 & 4. No codes present on OBDeleven. Took the car to my local Vag specialist and because he saw those cylinder misfire once in a 20 min test he now wants to rebuild the entire engine! I suggested a carbon cleanup as the car has 113000 uk miles but the guy said that’s stupid and that doesn’t do anything. He said the the car needs new intake / exhaust valves, and might have cracked pistons... the car rides beautifully apart from the problems mentioned above. What baffles me is the fact that he plugged vcds to the car and 20 min later called me saying this! Didn’t even open the engine bay! And refused to fix one other issue I have on the suspension until the engine is rebuilt Do you agree with his diagnosis?
@Ibrag91
@Ibrag91 3 жыл бұрын
No, bring it to another specialist. Do the maintenance first. Change all fluids, spark plugs, diagnose coil packs, and check your fuel nozzles, low pressure fuel pump because their performance is prone to degrade with time, they might need cleaning or replacement. If problem persists, check the vacuum system, vacuum system is prone to fail on this engines and ecu cannot detect that issue. Also, throttle body might need cleaning and calibration. Carbon build up on valves can also cause problems, you should clean it too. Or your engine burns a lot of oil and that's why mechanic wants to rebuild it. You have a gen 2 engine and it is prone to burn a lot of oil, but vw made a recall and your engine maybe fitted with newer generation pistons to solve the issue. But if it still drives beautifully you don't need to rebuild it asap.
@filipelopes2550
@filipelopes2550 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ibrag91 thank you for your response! Because I bought the car with high mileage and I knew the mechanic that fixed the fuel injector problem had to take the intake manifold off to doit I actually requested that all 4 injectors got changed instead of just the one, so that’s that, also requested 4 new spark plugs... Only things left are coils and regular maintenance then.. will have a look at that ASAP

Hey Charles. I've got a 2.8L V6 rally car. Recently the dash mounted Autotechnica oil pressure gauge (electronic measurement) has been erratic - often showing no oil pressure at all (when the engine is hot) which is alarming. I'm worried that the oil pump might be failing (the engine's done 170,000 km, including 1000 stage km). A VW forum suggested that the VR6 oil pumps are prone to failure. My mechanic says they're not. Do you think you could do a video going through changing the settings in VCDS and either disabling ESP or flipping the functionality of the ESP button (press dash button to turn on instead of off. If you can figure this one out I think you would be the first). This is probably the single most annoying "feature" on the R32 having the press the button every time I drive my car, forgetting then the throttle cutting any time there is wheel slip. This is probably going to be something you're doing to the Black car eventually with higher HP and track use it will be a big annoyance not to. Even if it is a 30 second short or a 5 min video would be appreciated, Thanks!

I mean we are going to be around 500whp. Im not sure the DMF would be super great. In general im a fan of DMF especially on stock

@@HumbleMechanic I guess they don't make performance DMFs. :/

I installed a spec kit on my mk6 gti and I've been having odd issues I cannot figure out, gets stuck in first and need to turn car off and then it slides out np. Sometimes it's 2nd or 3rd but very rare. 1st noticable. I replaced shift linkage and adjusted lots with dieselgeek and replaced fluid with proper tranny fluid and given up. Also blots they gave me said there is no extra turn and use their tightness because not torque to yield bolts ... Is that my issue? Replaced clutch master and bled it million times and million different ways. Also is yours LOUD as hell chatter and requires clutch depression a few times to get quiet ? Thanks for this. My new R32 toy will need this soon

Also, that tool.... Pissed me off, caused a few day delay of finding the right one for mine too.

If it happened immediately after clutch replacement, sounds like something could be going on with the pressure plate. Edit: This is assuming it was installed correctly with proper alignment and everything torqued properly

@@Hawk7886 yeah, pretty sure torqued it correctly since I'm OCD but after watching this and how it pulls itself in as tightened... I bet my HF torque screwed me over . I even calibrated it with a weight hanging ... Oh well.
