This is what I like, adding additional points of failure for no reason. A set of low compression pistons surely isn't as good of a solution for a boosted engine as 2 head gaskets. Well made, well designed pistons won't be weaker than stock.

VR6 is my favorite engine in a VW ever, especially a Scirocco. The coolest VW to ever have graced the land. Regarding parts that may not have to be replaced, I have a terminal case of "While I'm in here" and it makes me wonder how much money I've spent over the years that may not have been necessary. The upshot is that I have never suffered a major breakdown.

Watching you put all of this together brought back memories of when I did the chains, guides, & tensioners on a 12v 01.5 GTI VR6. My first time doing anything involved with the block, and holy crap was that a job and a half. Mostly solo. Obviously this is much different of an engine for many reasons, as is this job starkly different from mine, but seeing how it is you put all of this together made me think of all the little things that I could have done better. This is a great resource, especially as these cars are getting to the age now where a rebuild of the block would be a huge benefit to bring back another 15+ years of life. As I've said before, you're a huge asset to the VW community and we thank you for all that you do Charles.

Hands down I absolutely love your videos. Just as I'm about to think of a question, you answered it. Don't change a thing about your channel because I absolutely find this fantastic and entertaining. When my friends heard about this channel, our faces lit up like we just struck gold. I honestly can't wait to really wrench on my new car and I hope to meet you sometime at a car festival so I can personally thank you for simplifying my questions.
