“Indexing” is a way of marking a point of reference to be able to make the adjustment. If you pull the whole torsion bar out and rotate it (for making an adjustment via the inner spline) you HAVE to have a reference point, otherwise you have not made any adjustment at all, but simply uninstalled and reinstalled the torsion bar. Once you rotated the spring plate up a few teeth, then the only adjustment that was made was via the outer spline. In order to fine tune the adjustment using both the inner and outer splines, an index (or reference point) must be made (before any rotations are made) to mark the relationship of the torsion bar to the torsion tube, and then a reference point for the spring plate to the torsion bar. Only then will you be able to count how many spline teeth must be moved to make your adjustment

Thanks for the video on the spring plate removal. One of the better ones I've watched so far. You showed the feel of how to reposition everything. One easy question for you. What kind of grease should you use on the bushings? White grease? Wheel bearing grease?

Thanks great vid. My torsion bars don't want to come out. Should I have to use a puller on them? Does that make any sense? Looks like yours fell right out.

Limeworks makes a spacer for the 6mm gap.

Hi can you share the pic of the spring plate adjusting tool you have made. I want to make one for my car.

Just got my adjustable set from swayaway and the hardware kit came with a spacer/sleeve for the torsion cap bolts which seems like a problem solver since the adjustable set is thicker than stock. Those caps clamped down like that on the assembly look like a problem waiting to happen.

Very good point. The new adjustable set is a lot thicker than original.
