This time on the 1967 VW Squareback build I remove the old roof and prep the new roof for the media blaster.
Thanks for watching! Like and subscribe if you want to follow the build.

Good work! I'm really enjoying your very precise way of working. I'm a huge fan of Squarebacks and hopefully I'll be buying my old one back again soon. I sold it in '92 and have been trying to track it down ever since! I just found it last week and it's for sale.:D

Thanks! Wow, thats a special opportunity to get your old VW back. Nice work on the Mexi Bug!

@@DreamWrench Thanks! The Mexi is on hold just now while I concentrate on the '63. The current owner of my old Square is sending me some pics later today and if it's not completely rotten, I'll definitely be getting it back. Very excited!

Hey Dream Wrench you cycled into my KZbin recommendations tonight. Nice vids and great garage technique. I'll be enjoying your square back build! I've been driving VWs since '73 and currently nurture a 181 Thing. Cheers mate!

Hey Dream Wrench, nice to see a new video! I like your spot weld strategy. Cutting the A pillars would have involved the window openings, which can be maintained but adds a lot of checking and rechecking to a list that already goes on for miles. Great update, and good luck with your progress!

Thanks Haptic Garage! I'm sure my OCD would have been working overtime checking the dimensions of those openings! I hope to give a good report after the install to make it easier for folks to decide if they want to try it this way.

What was the reasoning just didn't want the sunroof? Nice work though im also building a 66 square

Ya, there are a bunch of reasons I want a solid roof. The rag top needs to be recovered, it doesn't fit the style of build I'm doing and I don't want to worry about leaks/break ins. Rad, I really like the trim package on 66 Squarebacks!

The original roof looked like it could have been a ragtop?
@DreamWrench
@DreamWrench 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I really just didn't want to deal with all of the issues that come with having a rag top and it also doesn't fit the style of build I'm doing. I figured I've already done this much work and have taken this long, may as well do what I really want to do with the car.

Yeah once you finish that roof your car’ll be storm ready! ragtops are cool but they are more for the Sunday drivers not the diehard road dubs
