When a somewhat generic search yields the exact model (color) and year of my ‘02 bugeyes WRX wagon I bought new 22 years ago this month to help with replacing its original bulbs (oddly, every single bulb, in and out, on it is original and works). I just got a '06 wrx recently and I'm relatively new to this kind of thing, you can shut off the engine after you park up the car or just let it warm up for a bit before you drain the oil pan?
@DreamWrench
@DreamWrench Жыл бұрын
It only takes a couple minutes of idling to warm up the oil so the oil is always warm by the time I get the car up onto the ramps. Warm oil before draining isn't mandatory but some people prefer doing it that way. Just be careful not to burn yourself if you try to drain the oil when the engine is actually hot. Best of luck!

Since yours is a 2002 like mine AND you're in the USA, I was just wondering where you would source a brand new complete headlamp assembly from if you had to. I'm in Australia and if I want a *brand new* item my only choice is to get it from Japan - there are no aftermarket options here and the car is too old for any Subaru dealers to carry the part. This makes it very pricey. I'm just wondering if you have options available to you over there it may be cheaper for me to import it from USA, but I have no idea where to start looking.

Nice, that's an early one! Is it running and driving? I'd say start out tackling small jobs and spend a lot of time driving/enjoying it. I think spending more time behind the wheel can help someone figure out what they really want to do with the car. If it's not running/driving I'd say spend a lot of time on the forums and make a plan for what it will take to get the car back in the road. What color is your 61? Can the OG paint be saved? Above all else enjoy the build!

@@DreamWrench I believe I'm possibly the 3rd owner, I got it from my great uncle who had dementia, while he had it it was running, till he burnt up the wiring. In around the spare wheel is rusted out at the bottom, running boards are in the process of getting replaced and under the quarter panels in front of the rear wheel is rotted out, that's to name a few things. It was in a lot better condition originally, but my late great uncle had kept forgetting outside and we both live on opposite sides of a river. It was originally white and while some of it is saveable, most really isn't. It's unfortunately not possible to return it to original due to the rust damage and a serious lack of cash so I'm just doing my best to make it work and look the way I want, while letting it retain the ability to be restored properly if I can find someone more passionate about seeing it truly live once again. I was given it after he passed away, I tried talking him into letting at least help him fix it but it was his pride and joy, he wouldn't let anyone work on it unless he was informed of a skill that may be needed. Unfortunately we don't live near any area that specialized in the necessary areas and he didn't have a trailer so it didn't get much done, though he did his best to get parts for it.
