Done a smashing job. No point in eating all your profits up by pro job when the job you have done is more than good enough.

Great job, the plastic bumpers come up like brand new with a couple of coat of cheery blossom boot polish.

yes there are videos of me doing just that on prior conversion on my channel

Don't be so hard on yourself mate, you did a great job. I'd probably have tackled it with around 60 spray cans and ended up with killer sore forefingers. I done a bonnet and a whole side once and it wasn't fun, the sore finger part. Saying that, you can get a spray can tool now. I've got some coach paint in cans to give my van a tidy up, I'm not looking forward to it at all, a little filling also to take out some small dents. Being able to hire that spray booth was handy and a Good idea, even flies can be a pain.

I’m pleased with it, but it looks better on camera as I missed a few small dings etc

Looks really good, is this something body shops do hire out the booth for diy jobs? Or is it a contact you have.
@TheCampervanBuilder2 жыл бұрын
It’s a contact I made through visiting body shops and asking if they’d hire an unused booth etc

Looks amazing on camera, know it’s a slightly different vehicle, but I am currently restoring a Land Rover series 3 and paint work is my next big job, and I’m bringing it, this video has very much encouraged me. Well done. 👍👍

Looks good but you should remove the paint from area that will have filler, adhesion is better onto steel not paint.

This is amazing!! What changed between timestamp: 1616 and the final product? The shots of it in the booth look like theres tons of orange peel...what made it so shiny in the end of the video? It's as if you sanded it and applied clearcoat?
@TheCampervanBuilder2 жыл бұрын
I did one more coat after my camera died which added the most gloss, it hasn't been sanded or polished yet and there is a little orange peel in places, but its still far better than before I started so I'm happy with it

following because im doing my t4 in the spring, well slightly starting but mostly planning. ive been a certified automotive painter for 10 years, and i just wanna say that your paint job is very pretty, its inspiring to watch you work! ive got a question tho, when you insulated your van, i noticed that you used a different insulation for the roof, than on the sides, im curious why? looking forward to go through the rest of your videos, thank you for sharing this
@TheCampervanBuilder Жыл бұрын
I used Jablite from B&Q for the roof as its more flexible so can be contoured to the shape of the roof a bit more. If you use the same, just don't go crazy with spray adhesive as it can eat it if too much is used
@TheDyrehauge Жыл бұрын
@@TheCampervanBuilder thanks that is very useful, i plan on doing my insulation, and solar/electricity by watching your videos, im very thankful for the videos, as it seems way more manageable now, i need to study a bit more when it comes to solar, in terms of how to connect and which parts i need to buy, i live in denmark so my options are a bit different for some stuff, I have a few questions, could i do with another inverter without losing any options? And is your inverter 50-60hz? Or just 50? Also, id be very happy if you went through the app, and settings for the inverter/chargers etc, as im just learning about these things now, its ok if you dont have the time but it seems like you are very good at this so it would be so helpful😊
@TheCampervanBuilder Жыл бұрын
The inverter was plug and play, I didn't change any settings on it at all. The solar stuff can sound daunting but its quite easy, just need a panel, a solar controller (ideally proper MPPT, not a cheapo thing) and cabling thick enough for the amps to connect to the battery, thats it. I've covered it in detail on previous conversions too@@TheDyrehauge

Paint job looks great. Flat and polish when it hardens and you would never know it was a diy job! What paint is it? 2k direct gloss?

just standard body filler, nothing specific
