This was so easy to follow and answered a lot of questions. Also highlighted some things I had not even thought about. I have to incorporate 2 dog crates into my build for their safety. However, looking at the amount of storage you created in this build it now looks more obvious.

Such a good design and great job one downer is the quality of wood/paper cabinets. I would switch out immediately. Could have saved on plastic trim too.

I have build a couple as well. Solar panel on roof i would have used original mounts to roof rack by making brakett to fit panel. Junction box from panel should have been behind panel and not on the side to reduce drag and to avoid problems with debrie life leafs from trees to get tangled. All electric to internal lights and stickers like usb to charge phone should be done before panels are mounted. Lift floor a little and you can have storage under the whole area. Kitchen furniture are way to wide. Could easily been slimmed down to half of the with by choosing another fridge. Doors under bed as sliping doors going on top of each other instead of hinges in the bottom. And to avoid so much cold bridges in insulation I would have used ships insulation in addition to what you used. That is a kind of foam 5mm thick with Silver folio on one side. And remember to make all cables to front seat before montage with stickers. Much easier to do when seat is not there. A roof hatch/ window is also to recommend so you can get some fresh air into the van when sleeping. Finally seal off around floor with sealer so if you spill something on the floor it will not enter in bottom of storage compartments under bed or kitchen area. Good luck to all your builders 😅

Great build. Only thing id do a bit different i think is an air tight gas locker with drop vent for safety. I like the bed style. Clever...
@TheCampervanBuilder4 ай бұрын
the gas locker area has a drop out vent hole
@jrewillis4 ай бұрын
@@TheCampervanBuilder it may well do, but the cabinet should really be airtight with a rubber seal on the door to stop any gas escaping. A drop vent alone isn't enough to meet sign off standards. Worth some thought - like I say it's a great build - mine has areas I can tweak too

R&R is best 1.2m wide, .we have never run out of storage, but access could be better, but then again we have more leg room. 4 can travel and eat together at the table. Also the missus can sit down to cook. I see the main advantage of yours being the large amount of accessible storage and I guess a Portapotti is possible.

conversion looks great but I have to pick up on something. A bit of shade on a solar panel doesnt knock the whole thing out. That only happens if you have several panels wired in series. If one of the panels then gets shaded, all the panels cease generating energy. Ive been parked under branches in Viv and her two panels ( wired in parallell ) still continued to generate energy.
@TheCampervanBuilder Жыл бұрын
I didn't mean it turns the power off completely, but it does significantly reduce the output if there is shade on a panel

Did you not use any sound deadening or Vapor barrier? Need to this and will be doing mind in a few weeks so not sure if this will do the same job 😊
@TheCampervanBuilder4 ай бұрын
the foil backed insulation doesn't need a barrier as its sealed in with aluminium tape, creating its own. Also never used sound deadening, never felt the need

Love this video - I am about to convert a reno trafic and am stumped in the planning process. After a year now have you noticed any issues with damp or mold? I have been stressing about the black plastic cable runner in the top corner and how I am going to insulate / vapor proof it. I reckon I will cover it with light carpet maybe.. You seem to have just left it so I'm wondering would you do anything different if you were to do it again. Cheers! Again - Awesome vid, awesome build well done.
@TheCampervanBuilder3 ай бұрын
never had any issues but I don't have the van anymore, sold it to fund a house purchase, but don't stress over vapour barriers etc, most vans will get scrapped before it becomes an issue

Nice build, not a fan of the rear section, that gap in the center makes it slightly closed in for my personal taste. Also, how are you gonna change the bulbs in the rear lights?

Well done, practical build. Layout works well. Can I ask how much did the install cost (materials and component) ?

What van in your opinion in this size is the most spacious inside? Least bad for rust? Least mechanical issues? We are stuck to needing an auto so obviously have limited choices though.
@TheCampervanBuilder2 ай бұрын
Any van can have mechanical issues and rust, it depends on its overall condition, some vans are galvanised which helps with rust, but history and condition are more important.

You didn't show the ceiling, that's what I was interested in. I don't like the R&R beds either, such an unsocial set up. The prices for a swivel seat are atrocious, just some metal plates and bolts.

Must admit to flicking through the Vid as I hated the music lol. That said this is exactly the sort of thing I want but I need my van for work as well to carry my tools and spares so ideally most of it has to be removable for me. What thickness ply did you use ???
