I have wanted to do something like this to a 2002 MR2 spyder for about 4 years now, im finally going to be 16 soon and get my MR2 for $3800 with broken transmision, i will get that fixed then get started on a project similar to this :) cant wait

Was wondering if this would fit as i found a cheap one that’s immaculate! I seemed to end up here from Gdubz 😂 cheers! Just bought my first T5 converted vans before not VW. Driving it home i noticed how Dub Vanz kept 👋🏻 or flashing me so i guess drivers all flash at each other.......(and the lights) very friendly 😃

Great video. My 2004 t5 has the same original wheel and I want to change it. How new can I get if I only want the airbag/horn buttons? Worried about wiring..

Aaron Nuttall not sure to be honest but I’ve seen them with the mk7 flat bottom wheels so assuming it’s the same swap... maybe.

Nice little upgrade! I wonder what would be needed for the buttons to work? Im guessing the squb. But then again youd need an adapter for the After market sterio! Finally got myself a van now too! 🚙

What about the other wires? Just done it but got no horn! (On the van) or if connect the two wires to the terminals I get a constant horn. No pun intended.

Hi mate, changed my T5 S/Wheel today. Followed spyders video swapped air bag loom as video. but got 2 wires left for horn brown and a white/black 1.Any idea where they go? Any pics or info would be much appreciated 👍

@@78djg hi sorry its a while since i did it. But i hand put a new connector on the earth wire and there were a couple of spade type connectors on the wheel. Had to connect to one of those

Great swap over, maybe for the button area you could make some carbon fiber or fiber glass blanking plates 🤷‍♀️!!

SpyderLee are you in Yorkshire or somewhere else in the north of England? Btw made me laugh when you said steering wheel has been done on the piss. This a term that is normally used in the building trade for something that is bent or not level😂

In Hull had a handyman come and make good a light switch that was recessed badly, amongst other jobs. He had a go but it wasn't great, so I asked if he could improve it because it was still on the piss a bit. He lost his shit and had a right go! I didn't mean anything by it, thought that was just the lingo these northerners use. Apparently not!
