Great 2nd part! Haven't done a valve body overhaul myself... so this is much appreciated! The boss doesn't take-in a lot of work if he thinks the job will lose him money (turn into something that was not expected). Can't fault him actually... it's the customers that for the most part wouldn't go for the repair anyway and they would not be "understanding" of things that were not part of an estimate (how can we give an estimate when we don't know all the specifics until stuff is taken apart).

+Thomas EXOVCDS Definitely not a job to take on for paying customers. Far too many variables that you can't account for before you start ripping into it. That's one of the benefits of doing this for myself in the shed :) I can take my time, mess it up and if I end up finding other problems then it gives me something to do!

+STEVE ROB As long as he only calls you PR... Glad you like it :) Haha these are only imitation Thomas EXOVCDS gloves. Hopefully I'll end up a tin arse if I get it working again. Charlie has been helping with the editing but he's not much good on the tools yet.

Thanks for the vids! I see you are using maxlife ATF. Have you used it in this system for a while? Everywhere online seems to say something different.( Other than of course the OEM VW fluid) some say that the original fluid is not synthetic, but some say it is ....

Thanks for the video. I'm about to buy a Jetta TDI 1.9 2006 with a transmission issue. I'm looking on ebay for a kit but I can't find it. I'm looking for ''Transmission parts with engineering difference''. Do you know where I can order? Http: ???
@Badgertronix
@Badgertronix 6 жыл бұрын
+Jean Roux the kits aren't a guaranteed fix, there are many problems with these transmissions. If you search Transgo Jetta 2006 you get lots of options. Cheers!

Hey Mate, love the product insertion at the beginning of the video (Canadian Stickers... from Thomas EXOVCDS from B.C. and my good friend Steve Rob from my province of Ontario. Noticed the two Coors light beer bottles in your first video and again in your 2nd video, you keeping them for a special occasion? Would be a shame to keep them beers hostage like that. I have noticed that you have pretty much been searching all the same websites/KZbin channels that I have been looking at for my 05' Jetta TDI 5 speed transmission which has 576,000km so far. It is starting to have 09A transmission issues. Wont shift into 2nd gear when cold (you know those Canadian winters, hey). I'm told its probably the solenoids acting up/gummed up. Will probably be getting a new solenoid kit from Cobra Transmission (original OEM solenoid parts) and try to change the oil a few times to get out as much of the old oil as possible. Just like you, my oil is a bit brown but still is somewhat red and it does not smell burnt, thank god. That Hiram Gutierrez, what a great channel to listen to, he makes it look so easy, that is the scary part. That is what you call a professional. Very aware when noise disrupts his video or when bad lighting obscures a shot, he will take the time to adjust his environment to make sure his audience gets 100% great vids. Will have to post a comment again once I get my solenoids replace to let you know how it went. Wont be as organized as you were though, you must be a scientist or a chemist at work, that is my guess. LOL Cheers, and drink those beers.

Hey thanks for dropping by! Some top notch Canadian channels pay big bucks to be featured in my videos haha! That's a lot of kilometres on a trans, hopefully some new solenoids and some love will have it back up and running sweetly. Always a few different beers around my workshop and I try and keep them closed until the work is done! Good luck with the repair and let me know how you get on. Cheers!

Could be a lot of things. Engine/transmission mounts, CV joints, brakes or a problem within the transmission.

Find the right crowds, and EVERY automatic gearbox has a bad reputation. It's quite an odd social stigma, but it always seems to boil down to it being easier to hate on something than to understand it. When you really get right down to it, automatic gearboxes aren't as complicated in function as people like to think, and the reality is that an automatic is inherently stronger than a manual. I have a feeling I'll catch a lot of flack for saying that, but it is what it is. You want a reason to own an automatic? California traffic. My father commuted 90 miles (145 km) to and from work every day for close to ten years, driving a 1985 Porsche 911 RUF with a racing clutch. Some 20+ years later, his left leg is still noticeably larger than his right, and he's about a year out from needing a hip replacement due to damage to the joint, likely from said clutch. Incidentally, no one in the family is allowed to bitch about "long commutes.' ;) If you got that harness/solenoid kit for USD $154, it's quite possibly a bootleg VW harness. I seem to recall that the genuine VW harness is about $150 on its own, and the solenoids run $40-$50 a piece. Unless something's bad out of the box or breaks during installation, they should serve you just fine for the foreseeable future. :) Everything is lookin' good so far! You've got good luck it seems! Nothing really getting caught up, no major varnish issues locking things in place... Textbook! You should gather up some sweat from your "solar panel" (love that, by the way) and bottle it to sell to mechanics as a good luck charm! Glad I'm able to be so much help! You're about as spot-on as can be with "RHKips." It's an age-old name dating back to when KZbin only allowed so many characters in user names. I tried changing it at one point, but ended up spending a whole day going through "welcome to the channel" type comments and gave up. LOL If you're at all curious, you already know my name (RH), and the "kips" portion is a reference to Thousands of Instructions Per Second; a now somewhat antiquated technological term that doubles as a slight towards my rather verbose nature, as demonstrated by this massive text wall. ;)

+rhkips The 01M can't be too fragile, it survived a hard out trip to the race track at nearly 20 years old without a hiccup. Although I've owned 2 vehicles with the 01M and now both have had transmission issues and I've owned many more manual cars and never had a gearbox issue :) I used to drive my Audi S6 in all kinds of different traffic and that had a fairly heavy clutch. A few times I got to the stage of thinking my leg hurts (my knee specifically but that could just have easily be caused by years of playing rugby), it never made me think about buying an auto. It made me think about buying a diesel but then the company was paying for fuel so I stuck to the 5 cylinder turbo awesomeness and occasional sore knee. I'm not too sure on the provenance of the cable. It wasn't advertised as a genuine VW part so it makes me think it isn't. Seems decent quality though, and certainly better condition than the old one. There could be some talk of parts in part 3... ha I saw you changed your username. I think I saw a comment on one of my videos and thought I don't remember them commenting then noticed the profile pic and eventually worked it how. Figured you were about to start publishing videos. That's way before my time on KZbin, turns out I'm something of a late adopter thanks to living without decent internet for a few years. You have been a massive help and certainly helped give me confidence to tackle the task ahead. Keep watching for part 4 to see how it turns out.

sure, some people just don't want to have a auto transmission... but Volkswagen transmissions from the 2000's and before have well earned negative reputation. But I think that is great that this video was made... can save some one from giving up and just getting another car or doing an expensive manual swap....
