Lightweight DIY Overland Trailer! Part 4, Electrical, Lithium and Iceco Cooler!

In today's episode, we are diving into the electrical setup of the lightweight camping trailer build.
We are installing a 62qt electric cooler from Iceco and a 100ah lithium battery from Electech!
This lightweight trailer build will be towed by my 1960 VW Beetle that is a cross between a volksrod and a baja, named the Sickxty. Full build series can be found in my KZbin playlist.

Think about a small fan a a passive vent. With fridge and closed metal box it will get hot… making the fridge work harder. Love the build.

Great thinking! The solar controller has a temp sensor so I’ll monitor the inside temps, should only be an issue in the summer when I don’t camp much here. Worse case I can open the side access doors and then add in a ventilation fan 🤙

No way I could pull that off here and it would probably be more of a headache than it’s worth. Not to mention there’s plenty of these kind of setups out there but most weigh 2500-3500lbs.

I ran one of those 12v DC compressor freezers for 30 days on a 150 ah deep cell battery once! No solar, no recharge, they sip energy on ECO mode, and use virtually zero when compressor is not running!

Outstanding job as usual love. Everything you do. Your content is awesome but to play armed quarterback Chair I don't know what you're doing with solar. So looking from the rear. The right hand side of the battery behind the cooler is dead space/is solar equipment going there. Because I probably would've put my electrical there. Because on a left hand the battery that could be for storage or anything you want. But that right handside looks like dead spot. I hate to say it because you did wonderful job can't wait for the next video

Thanks, I appreciate it! As for your concerns, I understand what you’re saying. I put the electrical where I did for easy access Incase I needed to work on it, use the small inverter, etc. The solar will tie into that panel as well. As for the dead space in front of the cooler, that area is for tool storage and items I’ll rarely need or will won’t need to access very often. So far it’s working out well. I may remove some items that I probably won’t use and move the battery to the space in front of the cooler.
