There has been so much interest in this that I requested a sample of the VX55 gel to test - as Colop say they sell it pretty much WorldWide!
So I got straight to work to see how it fared...

Awesome videos! I would love to try this some day and it is wonderful of you to take the time share you knowledge, thank you. On the stamp that did not cure all the way through and had the loose piece, if you put it back in the frame and sandwiched it all together again with a few drops of the gel between the backing of the stamp and the part that was detached, would it cure the stamp to the backing? Is that something to try before the final cure? Or is it just too late and there is no way to salvage it?
@createinspain
@createinspain 6 жыл бұрын
If you go through the wash out and find a loose piece, you can add a tiny amount of the gel and put it under the lamp again but trying to do it before the cure has finished is a no. You would end up over curing some other part and wrecking the stamp. Have a look at the later ones in that playlist for more accurate times.

Hi Sandra. I’ve been using VX55 polymer liquid since day one. Never had those clear ones. Now it’s really inetersting to see you to use this product. 😊 I’m getting it from Colop official retailer and yes it was really difficult to find it and i was quite surprised that they sell it in my own country (I also live in EU). I was wondering, do you bought this uv led lamp with led pulbs or you just bought led pulbs for regular uv lamp?

I've had a new 2019 catalogue from Colop and they seem to sell both the NG7 (colourless) and the green VX55 in Spain now! I bought the LED bulbs to replace the normal ones, they rotate in the sockets and I use them FACING OUT. They cure the gel faster but the best thing is that they are dependable, and last much longer. I've been using the same set for around 2 years - I had to change the lamp body a while ago, as the electronics gave out but the bulbs are still going strong! They are supposed to last around 5,000 hours....

Sandra, can you use two pieces of a clear-ish document folder for both sides when creating the stamp or do you recommend a clear cellophane sheet on one of the sides? I’m going to have to use black foam for my dam since I don’t have the plastic frames you have. Thanks for your help!!! 😊
@createinspain
@createinspain 6 жыл бұрын
You can use a clear cellophane for the design side if using the frames I make but I think for a beginner, it is better not to take the risk. The cellophane can crease or dip, creating an uneven finish, so if you use it, use it on the back. If you put it over your design and then dam it with tape, there is a risk it won't be flat. Good luck!

Hi Sandra, just watching your videos on stamp making again I have tried several times to buy this gel from colop however they keep telling me they can't sell it to me I have to go to a retailer they were going to send me details of those in my area but so far no Joy. I keep looking on the internet again with no joy. I have come across a resin and I am wondering if that might work. Or do you know of anywhere else I can purchase it. I assume that you are buying from Colop in Spain which is where I am. Many thanks for your inspirations. Lynda.

I print standard quality on tracing paper with a Samsung laser printer. If you take a close look at the print, it's black but you can still see through it if you hold it up to the light.

Hi :) I watched a few of your great videos after I had ordered a nail lamp, VX55 (pain!) and lots of equipment. I was just wondering which brand of tracing paper you use for the negatives? The ones I find in local stores have very different ammounts of opacity. I don't know how clear/seethrough they need to be. Would be nice to know your specs. I've also just ordered some Ocius 9 watts LED's, as recommended. I got my lamp in the mail today, but I couldn't get it to work with my negatives. I got some Xerox transparancies for Inkjet (have a HP Inkjet printer), but I could only see the stamp text highlighted within the resin. No embossing/debossing. Just plain flat on both sides=unusable. Tried a lot of different curing times, but nothing worked. Not sure if the negative was wrong (looked very black though, and the burnt in text was clear), or if the Xerox paper just messes up the UV distributon. I have also ordered a cameo 3 for symbol negatives (and scrapping), but it would be nice if I could skip making all text-negatives in vinyl, when I could just print them out on my brand new printer.. Sorry for the long message.

You may want to watch this one, kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ2xiZaoet6na80 First the paper. I use Pampy - 10 sheets made in RPC; www.poessa.com is all the info on the packet. I have also used (although it takes a few seconds longer) Papel Vegetal/onion paper/Vegetable paper which is 95g/m2, unbranded but has the code PN203P on it.. That paper is heavier than the tracing paper, at a GUESS I'd say that was about 65g/m2. I can't say anything about Xerox paper other than I don't know its UV blocking properties. Over head Projector film works, if your printer can print dark enough on it, mine won't. Re the bulbs - I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH - TURN THEM TO FACE THE OUTSIDE OF THE LAMP. If you don't do that, the curing time is so short, blink and you miss it! From what you say, the technique is working but the result you are having is OVER curing the gel. If you are using the bulbs facing the correct way, then you need to play with the curing times. Use very small designs for practice, take 15 seconds off your second cure. Let me know what the result is, you can send pics, details to (use my channel name)@gmail.com if need be for me to trouble shoot.

Sandra-I’ve copied every single thing demonstrated here using this product (even using same UV lamps). I’m using tracing paper (also tried made for ink for ink jet transparencies), for my negatives. Varied the times, etc. I’ve tried everything I know and I’m at an impasse. The end result shows an impression of the negative that just wipes off. Nothing that burns in. What am I doing wrong?
@createinspain
@createinspain 5 жыл бұрын
Casey - if you use the blog link from my home page, it has a contact form and I can then email you directly (since it may need some back and forth) . However, I suspect that the glass you are using may possibly be one that blocks UV light - that would account for it. As a test, try this experiment. Sandwich a blob of the gel as you normally would, but without the glass (or a negative) at all. It won't be making a stamp of anything but if that cures, then your set up (other than the glass is ok). Some glass is made to block UV light! If it works without the glass, do the same thing but with the glass and if that does not cure, you have your answer. I'm saying just a blob about an inch in diameter, nothing that will waste loads of gel.

Can we also create a sheet of polymer using the Colop VX55 as shown in your March 6 2018 video then cutout using our cutting machine such as the cricut maker? Thanks!!!
@createinspain
@createinspain 6 жыл бұрын
For anyone else reading this, Darlene has just watched my video on making polymer sheet to cut ( 13 May 2017). Darlene, yes you can use the VX55 - the time may be slightly different but otherwise the same process! As for cutting it with a Cricut Maker, I have never used one, I use my Silver Bullet. Unless they'd like to send me one to test, I'm not likely to find out either! :)
@darleneroach2848
@darleneroach2848 6 жыл бұрын
thanks again!!! the maker has made a lot of progress, although not quite to the depth of the silver bullet, possibility other cutting machines.. But Cricut maker I believe would be able to cut polymer sheet material. I also have a couple other machines capable of cutting polymer, I base my thinking on the silhouette's ability to cut such material. Sorry if my question here should have been under your other video. I had gone back and forth watching both a couple of times and just added my question I thought on the correct one, lol...

So does every picture have to be framed in black?
@createinspain
@createinspain 4 жыл бұрын
Audrey - making a polymer stamp requires a negative of the image you want to stamp. That is because the polymer liquid hardens only on the areas where light can reach it. You cure the back all over, for a short time so that a base layer cures but when you cure the other side the black areas stop the curing of those bits. Once the stamp is made, it is like any other polymer stamp you can buy. If you are PRINTING a negative then the print needs to be black. If you are cutting it, you just need to know that UV light can't get through what you cut, so most DARK colour construction papers for example would work, white might not.

I have tried over the past years to make my own stamps to use as a texture sheet for polymer clay. All the systems I've found and tried so far, have been a fail. This system of yours may work for me. I have found the gel through Amazon, here is the link: www.amazon.com/s?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Colop+VX55 But before purchasing, I would like to know if this will work with polymer clay (with cornstarch as a release agent). If you don't have the answer, I'm hoping a follower may know. Thank you!

Sorry Cindy, YT has been hiding comments- grrr! The only thing I can suggest, is to buy the cheapest POLYMER stamp you can find in the shops and try it out. If that works then you should be fine. The polymer firms up but can be sticky still. For a quick press, I would think talc or similar would work to release.
