VY Skid Car Build. EP 3. Cooling Off, Sealing Up, Makes Sense

We tackle the cooling system on skidalicious. Replace all the crusty hoses, heater tap, water pump, and delete the thermostat.
We also replace the leaking rocker cover gaskets, and fit upgraded mace engineering lower intake manifold gaskets.
Plus we throw in a fresh set of spark plugs

hey mate, good tip is to cut out the centre of the thermostat, deleting it will also make it run warm when skidding as the coolant doesnt have enough time to cool down in the radiator, so if you cut the centre of it, it gives it a bit extra time to cool down

Yeah noted mate thank you. I’ve done thermostat deletes on L67 before and has worked well. But during the driving process on this car when we were running in the new diff (that episode will be out in a couple of weeks) we noticed the temp was very erratic. Even stopping at a set of lights it would get up to over half. So we have now installed a 175 degree high flow and works much better

Been through many different types, but the one I’m using currently I’ve been using for the last few years and I find it to be amazing. It’s CRC RTV Silicon Adhesive and sealant in grey
