Dude! I've watched your chopin 24 etudes video and you're such a legend, not many people can perform all 24 etudes consecutively in just one performance. Props to you man. Keep up good work, the world is very fortunate to have such a talented man like you!

I quite agree. It is very unusual to hear all the Chopin etudes performed in one go at a live concert. That is a tremendous feat and a great accomplishment on the part of Mr Gryaznov. Bravo!

Your input on the need to focus on the harmony instead of entirely on the theme is a revelation to me. Having the (bad) habit of quickly slipping into muscle memory myself, half of the time I don’t really take note what exactly I’m dealing with. By playing “slowly and loudly” with the left hand helps raise consciousness and solidify the execution. Appreciate your valuable thoughts.

Great video! Very informative seeing this piece broken down

This piece has so many complicated rhythms that you have to painstakingly go through each little section and cross every T and dot every I. My score for this has so many pencil notes and erasures.

Slava shows that to learn a complex piece you practice slowly at first then at each step, take the tempo faster but keep it under control. As he shows, at some point you memorize the notes with some muscle memory as well. It's gradual. There's no short cut esp. with crazy passages as he shows. Perfect performance doesn't come spontaneous it comes with work.
